Contemplating a Crossfire
Hey everyone I'm new to the forum and contemplating an American roadster. I was looking at the Solstice but the wait list and the size simply doesn't seem worth it. Overall how is the crossfire as far as reliability, speed, and how comfortable it drives? I'm moving from North Jersey to upstate New York so I was wondering how it handled in the snow with the rear wheel. Overall I'm just wondering if the crossfire is worth the cash in all of your opinions. I'm a 21 yr old kid w/4 months left in school and this will be my first big purchase, so I just want to make sure its the right one. I just gotta test drive one this weekend.
Thanks
Len

First, from my own readings, I think most of your questions have indeed been asked and answered before. Take your time and do some looking around this site. There is a wealth of information here. Heck, were it not for this place, I'd still be driving around with dirty front wheels, visor airbag warning labels, and Chrysler emblems.
And as a somewhat recent member of the "club", I'd dare say it is unlikely that anyone here would discourage you from joining in on the love affair we all seem to have with our beloved XF's. And I for one, would welcome you to join in on the fun in owning one and participating here (pre- and post- ownership).

You hadn't heard ?.... It's already being tested and photos from one of the SPY auto websites... 254 hp SC with a hard top for SCCA racing... Delivery is later this year...the price is rumored to be 26k.
Do a search... It's amazing they already have full race suspension, intakes, cat backs, ground effects body kits... The car hasn't even been officially available for more than 6 months...

HERE'S ONE OF THE ARTICLES... http://www.autoblog.com/2006/01/05/p...of-day-in-l-a/
OK so it's a chick car that'll kick a little azz, but it's still a chick car.
I saw a chick driving around in one not more then two days ago, the car was cute and so was the chick, with her husband riding beside her.
Some cars are made for men and others are made for chicks, you folks know that.

I was a happy lottery winner last summer thru the program Military Overseas Car Sales program to purchase one of their allotted limited Solstices. However, my next assignment turn out to be Spain and no GM service centers were available for the Solstice. So, while I was home on leave last summer, I stumbled into a Chrysler dealership and bought one of their last remaining 2004 Crossfire for about $25k. Man, I am happy I did. I just picked up my Crossfire this week and having a blast driving it in Spain (lots of curves and no speed limits on some roads). I was previous a (heavily modified) Audi TT Quattro owner, but you can't beat displacement of the Mercedes V6 vs 4 Cylinder Turbo.
Did you check out the conversion they have for the solstice? I called the place they said the put a supercharged LS7 motor in it they claim 700 to 800 hp they do suspension upgrades and new wheels for $38,000. This would be a fun car to drive.

I also looked at the Solstices. I love them, but like you said there's a long waiting list and they are priced way above MSRP right now. Also I needed a little more cargo area.

If I had to do it again i would buy the crossfire again.
I would like an srt but paid 23k for my limited. It was too much more $$$ for the srt.
I drive mine everyday and still love it.
Rain or shine, i drive it, it can handle the snow if its not too deep.
