Default do all XF bog out???

Just wondering if the other 3.2 engines are doing the same... When i punch the accelerator to the floor from a dead stand still... immediately the force presses me back into my seat... hard... the rear end drops the nose lifts and i am in the middle of take off...
HOWEVER... EVERYTIME IN THIS MODE... THE CAR SUDDENLY YET MOMENTARILY HESITATES...1/2 TO ONE SECOND.... LIKE THE WORLD STOPPED AND ALL YOU HEAR IS SILENCE AS THE NOSE DROPS BACK DOWN ...THEN IT KICKS BACK IN LIKE A BAT OUTTA HECK... AND ITS GOOD TO GO WITH NO MORE BOGGING FROM THAT POINT ONWARD... IT IS ALWAYS FROM THE LINE THAT THIS OCCURS.

Is this typical of the CROSSFIRE?

Years back I had a E320 that also did this so?!?!?!

Thanks in advance for your output...

J.

We have the Autostick and our car does not do that.

former nxmx5... you pose very good questions... hmmmm... each time this happens... i am programmed to focus everything on my hearing... listening to the roar turning into a quiet lull ... than BANG... into that sweet XF roar i've grown addicted to. once the snow stops here i will keep my eye on the tach and the stab control light... but for some reason i don't think its the stab control... we'll see.

thanks
josh

hey what's that front tow hook pic on your website???
And that '68 goat you got there brought back memories for me... i had a "moss-green" '68 lemans with blk interior (which i still love) and i installed the GTO hide a way headlights... don't have it anymore. sold it 16 years ago!!!

Xfire1, I think it's your traction control kicking in also. Only trouble is, you can't turn the darn thing "completely" off. Even with the switch in the off position on my 6 spd. It will still kick in if I launch it to aggressively.

XFIRE1,
I know what you mean when you say that it "bogs" out, and I don't think it is the stability control. When I shift sometimes and punch the gas, I get that same pause on my roadster. Like I said, it could be the stability control, but I really don't think so. It kind of pisses me off sometimes...

Put some armorall on the tiers, If it bogs more than usual it is the traction control, If not, I would try a trip to the dealer...
Good luck.

+fireamx i hope it is!!! but it really feels like ...for a moment, the car ran outta gas...
also i too realized that when the trac is off that it still governs the ride when the XF is PRESSED!!!!

Hotwhip... I hear you... it pisses me off to when i really need to launch... when it bogs like that it feels like an eternity.

when i dont need to launch and i do anyway heheheh... it doesnt bother me... i look at it like the 320 and its computers are telling me... DO YOU REALLY HAVE TO DO THIS NOW!?!?!?

afire1, I was at a Mopar car show at Summit Racing last summer. My AMC club was personally invited to the 2 day event. So one day I drove my AMX, and the last day I took my Crossfire. Right next to Summits parking lot is an on ramp heading West onto I-76 into Akron. That stretch of 76 is at least 1 mile of straight road from that on ramp, and is a location of choice by many when they want to test their cars.
Now I get alot of good natured jabs from the AMC crowd about my choice of Mopars that I own. So when I pulled out of Summit with two of my friends, (one in a 1970 390 AMX, the other in a 390 Rebel Machine) I led them up the on ramp, then I came to a complete stop when I got to the highway, (even though there was no traffic) so they pulled up beside me knowing why I stopped.
I knew full well I couldn't beat the low 14 sec X, but I figured I could put the hurt on the Machine, and maybe pull the X to about 60. Well I wound it up a little more than usual when I launched and as soon as the car started to move it fell flat on it's face as the two AMCs put about 6 car lengths on me before it started moving again. In a matter of seconds, my cell phone started ringing, and (you guessed it) it was my buddy in the AMX laughing hysterically and asking me wtf happened. All I could do was tell him how much I loved that traction control, even when it's turned off.
By the way xfire1, I live about 15 min. south of Kent, just South of RT224, between Rt43 and RT44. Did you go to school in Kent?

+fireamx... summit HQ is out there in ohio if i remember correctly... lived in Kent... down the street from Kent State... but didn't do my schooling in ohio... i met this girl in NYC and she convinced me to live in kent with her... i did and never regretted it... she and i parted. but kent and the rest of ohio feels like home away from home 2 me... you know when ever i see an ohio plate here in ny, i always wave or give them the peace sign...

also i always remember a sign... (on 224?) connecting into 80... but still in OHIO... reading NYC 380 MILES... i thought it to be strange because it says NYC! nothing about PA or NJ... it skipped those states!!!
i like the AMXs... but i once owned a Matador... remember those!?!?!?

I had one, a 1974 Matador X 360 4 bl. dual exhaust 3:54 gears, 15.15 - 1/4 mile. Doesn't sound like much now, but back during the "dark ages" of the mid 70's, I used to play with Trans Ams. Actually I had 3 of them, but that was the one I ordered brand new.

No I haven't seen anything about a Hornet since 1977. If this is a joke, I know about 2 dozen AMC geeks I'm going to have to email it to. LOL

I have an auto stick and it will hesitate if the traction control is on and I horse. The tires are trying to break loose, so turn it off and you will be surprised.

On the manual stick it has an RPM limiter, I think 4,000 RPM, this is if you try to rev it up prior to releasing the clutch. Its all in the manual.
