Default My real introduction...

I have not spent much time on here - so I might as well just give you all the once over about me. I am Benjamin Freedman, 24 from Tacoma, WA. Mortgage Broker by day, Eligible bachelor by night. Anyhow, here are some pics of the sunroof that some of you have requested...

That would have been a really nice photo of your Crossfire, and the yellow Porsche if it wasn't for the long stick and "graffiti" in the foreground.

Now that's what I'm talking about. Doesn't that look better?

It's not like I'm a prude or anything, I just like a nice looking photo.

By the way Ben, you didn't happen to work for Play Boy at one time did you?

Cost was about $1,500 including install and I will tell you... people look at the detail inside and wonder how they did such an amazing job... no rips in the headliner or flaws in the paint... A++ work.

Wow, that is amazing.

How exactly did they handle the spine on the roof? Seems like the rubber molding that goes around the sunroof housing would have to cover up the interface between the spine and the frame/housing. Wouldn't the spine have to slope down to match up to the flat sunroof? I don't see any evidence of a discontinuity of the rubber molding as I go around the edge of the sunroof in front or in back.

Were you nervous about the outcome?

What did they say about and what are you experiencing with respect to chassis flex with a hole cut out of your roof?

Looks like they did a 10/10 job. Again, wow.

Hi Ben, I was wondering - since you're in the biz - Do you know Bruce McLaughlin ? He's also a broker out of the southend. That's his GT3 I'm using for my avatar.

That's cool that you know Bruce - he's a good friend. I've known him for maybe twelve years. We both worked at cartoys at the same time. I actually haven't done anything on the porsche except store it for him, he called me frantically one night, he had blown a coolant line driving through Kent and since he lives way south he needed a safe garage for the night. He called me today, he's got an RL that he bought for a driver so we just have to line up product and scheduling time and we can get started on the porsche. It should be kinda relaxing doing a "normal" job again - We've just been doing weird sh*t lately, 8k in a sand rail, 10 k in a fifth wheel, subwoofer and rockford amp on a goldwing, today we got started on a fiberglass pod for two sixes in the tail section of a gsxr 1000... people just keep showing up with the weirdest deals!

Actually, I'm embarrassed to say, I haven't touched my crossfire - it's not that I don't want to but between alot of stuff in my life over the passed year or more - I just haven't had time! What would fit with our business philosophy is to keep the stock head unit (if I can hotrod an aux -in) and add big amplification on a metal rack, some type of sub, maybe a couple of L5 tens, and upgrade the top end - probably diamond hex or maybe our own blend of proprietary high frequency drivers. I've really wanted to experiment with "line arrays". I found out an old friend of mine, David Graebener, is a principle in a company out of Colorado specializing in these... might have to give him a call. The other thing I'm working on is - implanted 'rfid' technology. I have purchased the basic hardware required to assemble a reader that will be able to recognize a 2 by 12 millimeter chip that will get implanted in my right hand. The initial plan is to place the small inductance based transponder antenna in the driver side quarter window. I should be able to walk up to the car, hold my right hand up to the antenna, then, if the reader confirms my hand recognition it will unlock my door, disarm security and trigger the remote start. I'm still designing what will happen next, whatever way I achieve it I will have a secondary, secure system of turning on the ignition and accessory circuits to be able to drive keyless. I look at it like this - anybody with enough money can buy one of these truly beautiful automobiles - but mine will recognize ME.

Default I'm new too

Noobie here too! Picked up my aero blue SRT6 last month in Venice, FL. Already going to dealer for 2nd repair, tho, so I am withholding judgment on the car for now. (1st was alarm system, which went off every time any door was opened and/or every three minutes or so, made the car undriveable, and took a week to diagnose, get part, fix; 2nd is apparent tranny fluid leak onto my driveway & I take it in Friday.)

One thing I miss is a sunroof/moonroof. Bfreedman, it seems you may have posted before about this but I couldn't find it. In any case I'm wondering about the brand of sunroof you got & where you got it, including installation. TIA

UPDATE: I just found your earlier post mentioning the Webasto brand name for your sunroof. So I went to their web site, looked up their sunroofs for Chrysler products, and the Crossfire was not listed! Then I called and a tech said they indeed do not make a sunroof for the Crossfire due to the crease in the roof. So ... specifically, Bfreedman, what Webasto sunroof did you use? Or did you switch to something else that I missed??

Alot of xfires have had this problem with the auto transmission as did. The fix is very simple they just replaced 2 grommets on the tranny.

I believe the sunroof is a Hollandria Webasto 300S Soft Touch.. of course it does not have the spine, however, I am one to sacrifice a line for my own comfort.
