tread expectancy of conti sport contact 2?
what is your longevity of these "continental" tires if you have them on your crossfire? tia
ps ~ not referring to the all-season contis.
i am wanting to purchase these tires from the tire rack and wanted your input & thoughts.
thanks again!

i've got 30,000 on my pilots right now, and they could probably stand about another six months or so; i'm gonna say you could get a max of 40,000 on them; so i used that for comparison.
I have about 21,000 on the factory set of my CSC2's with plenty of tread left. I'm sure I'll have to replace them before the lease is up, but I am impressed they've lasted now almost 2 years and I'll easily get 6 months or more out of them.
I have a loose rule of thumb that I have come up with. Actually, it works out pretty well.
Multiply the UTQG treadwear number by about 1.5...this will give you the wearout mileage if you drive the tires very conservatively. It is a best case number, but it really is fairly accurate.
The Conti SC2 are rated a 280. So, 28*1.5 = 42k miles. Sounds crazy, but you will probably get close to 40k if you baby them.

i have purchased the SC2 tires and will probably install them in june. i'm looking forward to some improved handling with a more aggressive compound.
i still have about 5k+ remaining on my "all season" conti's... to my surprise i will only get about 25-27k or so out of them. i thought the a/s conti would last much longer... and i have even wear across the tire with the modified suspension (eibach's & koni's).
with the tire wear... my car is now... hunting/tramlining down the road with any pavement imperfections.
I was able to put on 15,000 miles before seeing the tread wear indicator. I checked the tire pressure regularly. They wore in a uniform manner, just very quickly.
The fronts have plenty of tread left. I would guess they will easily go 30,000 miles.

i recommend looking into tire feedback from owners via the tire rack.

My Contis were toast at 18,500 miles. I don't drive them hard, but I did buy the car used w/ 10k on it. I still had fair tread on the fronts, but was showing to the wear bars on the rears. (w/ no spare, that was making me nervous).
I had the Goodyear's F1 GS D3 installed yesterday. I drove them about 40 miles in town, so far, so good. I love the feel of new tires.
In comparison w/ some other tires, these were a reasonable price and they look absolutely HOT on the car.
With this few miles, all I am qualified to comment on is the looks.
It's raining today, so I will be able to test out wet traction.
