Thumbs up Woodward Dream Cruise - August 16, 2008 - Detroit, MI

After much demand - Here is the 2008 WDC Thread.

Guess we should start trying to book a place ASAP.
Locals and WDC veterans - what are some prime spots we should go after?
Also, wonder how many Crossfires we will have in 2008. We had ~ 20 in 2007, and it looks like most attendees will try to make it back for 2008.

Help is much appreciated.

RPM -
Count me in for next year. I wouldn't miss it for anything.
I intend to have my Crossfire for many years to come and if I wear this one out I will by another one. The next one might be a SRT6 though. I just met a new member CHI-TOWN SRT/6 tonight and he lives only a few miles from me. He just bought a '05 new with only 13 miles on it. He stopped by my house and gave me a ride that pinned me into my seat. Very impressed with the extra
100 HP. I told him to join us next year and he can run up to Detroit along with me and FP and CrossfireFrank.
SEE YA NEXT YEAR.

PS - thanks in advance for your efforts going into the next Woodward meet.

I'll be there. I did notice that the shopping center at Woodward and 13 Mile where the Chrysler display is located was offering parking for $25 on the day of the cruise. This may be an option for next year if we want to get closer to Chrysler?

For those of you that were at Woodward this past weekend here is a video I took of Roy (mbepic) running his 2004 Crossfire at the tavern 13 parking lot with his dual exhaust.
For those of you who were not there we expect to see you next year.

Be sure to read the story with the video. I mentioned the forum twice.

Gary - It sounds a lot better in person. I'm still waiting for Roy to pm me the parts list to install it on mine.

If you can think of a lot/location for 2008 send me a PM, I'll go ask about reserving for next year. The 13 & WW lot day of for $25 is excellent. I'll try to find out who/how to "book it".
Between Steve (apkano) and myself we should be able to check into them. Having a lot ahead of time would allow us to promote the "Crossfires @ Woodward Dream Cruise 2008" with a hand out to include a map. We can give them to any unsuspecting owners we find between now and then. We couldn't end up with too many to fit into the lot could we??

I am glad you guys are on top of this already for next year. We will most certainly have a great spot this far in advance. Thanks to all of you locals for your effort in planning next years event. Now I only wish there was another event sooner within a reasonable distance from Chicago suburbs were we could all meet again. I don't know if I can wait a whole year. I have not even stopped telling everyone at home about how awesome this year was.

I definitely will be there next year (with car repaired) as long as long as there is no conflict with work. But I don't think that will be a problem.

Hey locals - just curious if any of you have had a chance to scope out some places.
I've been so swamped I haven't had time to get a lot done.

If you guys will get me some place names/numbers - I'll make the calls if you like.

Your help is much appreciated.

Actually...I've been working at finding out who/how we can possibly park in the same lot as the Chrysler Corporate folks. (13 mile and Woodward).

There was a lot of empty spaces there this year...Advertised at $25 bucks a piece though. Maybe we can get a bulk discount!

Still working on it though...I'll be sure to post if I have any new news!

From the Chrysler display at 13 mile Rd about 100 yds down on the right was where all the prowlers were parked maybe we could check that place out. I'm not sure what type of building was there a school or church or something.

Was the building on 13 mile? That would be Shrine High School 248 549 2925 (general offices) Gary and I were parked in their drive on Friday night when the group came to "pick us up" for dinner. They have a huge lot, just to the west of their building, which Chrysler was using as a staging area for the 13 and WW show. If we could rent their circular drive in front of the school (proper) would be cool, except I don't know about number of cars that would fit. If we parked them double it would be enough room. The cars would not be on WW, but it would get the group into more and new things to do and see. I can go take pictures and post them if you want to see/if they are willing to rent it.

I trust you locals will find a great spot for next year. Use your best judgment. It's hard to say how many will be coming next year. I just revived an old thread started on 8/5/03. There are a lot of Michigan owners or at least there were one the past three years. I am sure that the attendance will be greater next year. On another note. I thought the Marriott worked out well for us. Will we stay there again next year ?

old thread restarted:

30 years ago we lived in the 3 house north of 13 mile rd. on Coolidge. It was a starter house and didn't have much of a garage or driveway, so we used to park in the median sometimes. It's within walking distance - about a block- from the 13 and Woodward intersection. I wonder if they would allow cars to park there during the cruise? That way it wouldn't matter how many xf's show up, you'd just keep going up the street! Although, I think now there are big curbs on that median, where there was nothing when we lived there. Might be hard to get our cars up there.
Somewhere right on Woodward would be the ideal spot, but I bet they are all taken already!

Can't park on the medians anymore. That is where the police set up.

I think we will get a spot on Woodward, but you're right, we've got to start getting a place reserved now.

Wonder if we can get 40+ Crossfires there next year? I think so.

Someone started a thread about the "Crossfire Nationals"...They were trying to figure out where to hold them.

I suggested Woodward!

I hope to be there next year. I live less than a mile from Woodward (near 13 mile). Between 13 and 14 mile is probably the greatest area for the cruise, so a spot there would be awesome. If you plan on making a list, mark me down.

EDIT: If you guys saw the prowlers on Woodward this year, we should do something like that.
