There is a nice little cigar shop in Waynesville. A great town with some wonderful stores and places to eat.

 

We are going to stay on the coast for a few days in Edenton then roll back to Asheville via 40. Friday morning finds us in Bryson City taking the Nantahala Gorge Train ride. Just glanced at the map. Looks like I roll through Waynesville on the way to Bryson City. Guess I can get fixed up there.

 

We need to firm up our plans early next month.

 

Ah okay, I figured you might be coming down 24 through Nashville from chi-town... If that was the case, there's an awesome cigar shop in Murfreesboro called The Humidor. Mike, the owner, is former USMC and a swell guy. Hooks me up with freebies and "trial" smokes all the time.

 

I am still going to try to bake some rum cakes .

 

This might be a dumb question but would I have to be staying at the lodge to run with you guys, see as I live relatively close.

You are welcome to join us for the runs each day but you will need to be at the Fontana Lodge by 9:00 on Saturday and Sunday morning to get in a group prior to us leaving for the day.

There will most likely be more than one route to choose from each day as well.

 

What time of the day is the nothern group passing through Lexington on the way to the Dragon ?

It is someones lucky day. I will be unable to attend the fall dragon this year due to closing on my new home that Friday. The lodge has been sold out for awhile but now has 1 lower level room available due to my cancellation. It has 2 queen beds and located in the lower level.

 

Leaving Florence, Ky at 8am...should be coming through Lexington at 9:15am Friday

 

The Lodge is not sold out yet although reservation deadline is August 29th.
We have a room block with 55 rooms and they have not all been used yet.

Count myself and two friends in, we will be on a rather complicated trip and wont be on the whole GTG. We will be renting 2 wheeled transport and our support man will be running my C32, that is assuming the engine gods smile upon me.

We are making a stop at the BMW factory in Greer, SC if any of the other southerners want to caravan up together...

Driving up from Upstate SC sometime Friday AM. BMW plant is only 15-20 minutes from homestead. Just need a 'heads-up' on when you plan to start your trek to Fontana & we may join you.

 

I think we will push off in the afternoon on the 28th, drive as far as we can take it (3 drivers) and do the tour on the 29th.

Our bike rentals will either be one way, or out of Hendersonville if we give up on the last leg of the trip that takes us to AL and home by Monday. The current route with AL in it is just over 1800 miles, now you see why I call it a complicated trip.

Oh did I mention I am swapping out the C32's heads AFTER the 14th. If that goes wrong we will catch a flight to GSP and get a rental car, again abandoning the trip to AL.
