I may be staying with my son's best friend from college. He and his wife are from here and offered their residence for me and the car. They are just off Woodward... I am considering it. I will let you know Gary. Have we found a place to park. I could have them look for us. He's a BMW guy...lol...

 

We have secured parking at 13 mile and Woodward again this year !!!
The spot is in a beautiful shaded park next to the Royal Oak Fire Station.
This spot is right off Woodward Ave.
I have highlighted the general area in red.

The fee is $35 per car and this entitles you to park there on Friday and Saturday.
This fee also allows you exclusive access to bleachers along the edge of the park on Woodward ave to sit and enjoy the show.
Only CROSSFIRES in our group will be permitted to use this parking spot

Thanks Gary for the info and for making the arrangements! We've booked our room and the check to reserve our spot will be in the mail tomorrow. My son will be joining us. I'm just not sure which vehicle he'll be driving, but he'll have to figure out where he's going to park once we get there.... ;-) Annette

I did not knoiw if this was the place, but figured many may have the same question...

In the documentation for parking, it says that cars must stay Saturday from 10am-7pm to be displayed and if someone chooses to leave during that time, they will not be allowed back into the parking area. I am not sure if this applies to us, but I know many, myself included, like to go cruising a little during the day and this rule would certainly put a damper on that if we have no spot to come back to.

I want to thank you and whomever else helped in lining up this parking, because it is a great spot, and I do not want to seem ungrateful, but for $35, we should be able to come and go as we please IMHO.

Let me know your thoughts.

I understand your concern with staying parked on Saturday until you are ready to leave for the day and not having the freedom to come and go to allow cruising Woodward.

I called and spoke to the person who this was arranged with and I was told that the restriction on coming and going from the park on Saturday is primarily due to the volume of pedestrians present in the park on the day of the Dream Cruise.

Memorial Park is a prime piece of property to have access to and we all will have VIP passes to allow us exclusive seating on the bleachers right on Woodward Ave for viewing the cars as they pass by.

I agree some like to leave and cruise but we had to agree to the restrictions to have access to this prime parking location this year.
There are no restrictions for coming and going on Friday since the volume of pedestrian traffic is lower.

As far as the $35 fee for parking....most spots directly along Woodward ave go for $100 or more especially at 13 mile rd.

Last year my son and I took my car out on to Woodward on the Saturday afternoon. In the lane beside us was a kid in a very nice 68 stang doing a burn-out. We watched him emerge from the cloud of smoke at full throttle when something went terribly wrong and he ran into the back of an older gentlemans pristine 69 Charger. The old fella held his head in his hands for a couple minutes before he got out of the car to view the damage. For this reason, I'm fine with my car staying in the parking area till I'm ready to leave for the day.

 

Here's a photo of a burn out on Woodward taken by James1549, I'm in the black Crossfire and in front of me is MsGump in the middle of the smoke from the burn out by the kid beside her. I could not see her, her top was down and she was stopped in the middle of the smoke, which hung all around her.

I innocently asked her later at the hotel why she smelled of burnt rubber. She nearly hit me. LOL

 

I hear you, and it is not just for cruising, say you need to run back to the hotel for something...

I think it is more the fact that someone is putting restrictions on my vacation, and I generally do not do well with that. I will get over it and enjoy the fantastic parking Judy was able to secure for us. Thanks a million for making this happen.

We will be booking shortly. Looking forward to seeing many old friends and meeting new ones.
