Woodward Dream Cruise & Meet - August 16, 2014 - Michigan
Add me to the list. I'll be there friday afternoon. Also, does anyone have any license plates they would trade. I have some ohio plates to trade.
Also if anyone is interested, I have a Mercedes engine cover in very good condition for the Needwings intake. No shipping pickup at the cruise or in Brighton, MI
For those that will be in the area on Friday morning, there will be an assembly plant tour at 9:00am at the Jefferson North Plant. The Dodge Durango and Jeep Grand Cherokee are currently being manufactured there. I have not decided to go myself yet because of the early time. The Durango/Dakota club put this together and would like more people to attend with them. You must be 18. this is a private tour, not open to the public.
My wife and I went to this many years ago when it was in Maryland and the company was very accommodating to us visitors.
If anyone is interested, I would be more than happy to get the details.

less than 3 weeks to go - can anyone give me an approximate itinerary for the event. My wife and I will be arriving late on Thursday. Is there anything planned for Friday afternoon/evening?
Thanks!
Thanks!
Usually depart the hotel in a caravan Sat a.m. around 9ish, cruise Woodward and then hang out at the park/cruise all day. Dinner follows, last cruise on Woodward and then hotel parking lot tailgating.
I live close to the hotel - pm me if you want to use my drive to clean up your car.
Gary -
'thought that I'd best get our names added to the list of attendees to the park...
PitMarshall (John) from Toronto will be attending on Saturday and too, Norm from Whitby, Ont.) will be there. Undecided if he will be parking his in the park. I'm hoping to meet Eric and to get an autograph and photo!
We look forward to seeing everyone! Thanks as well, for organizing the hotel room rate!

These guys are still looking to fill some spaces for their plant tour on Friday morning of WWDC. Take a look if you are going to be in town early.
I just purchased a set of these for my FRS radios. They will come in handy when driving with the windows down, or in the case of a roadster on the hiway.

The "KEY" word here is "CRUSING" . It's not a "Static" car show.
Ya miss SO much just sitting all day in the park, you're only experiencing a fraction of what the Dream Cruise has to offer. The Cruise isn't just a place to see, but to be seen. If you don't show off your Crossfires, how is anybody ever going to know they exist?
Both Ford and Chevrolet have great displays.
There is a huge car show that begins just North of Lincoln St. where "Old Woodward Ave. South" angles off on the West side of Woodward Ave. It's too far to walk from the park, but we've never had a very hard time finding a place to park on the side streets near by.
As for the old complaint about Woodward becoming a "parking lot" and you can't get much cruising done later in the day, yes that happens in certain areas. But when it does just turn down a side street and take the back roads around the conjested area.
Socializing with fellow forum members is one of the best parts of our GTG's, but that's what the party in the hotel parking lot, and dinners at the restaurants are for.
Heck, one of the biggest compliments I've got at Woodward, is when "Steve Magnante" approached me in our hotel parking lot last year and spent 5 minutes asking me all about my Crossfire. He told me he really liked my mods, and the Crossfire in general. Never know who you're going to meet at the Cruise.

Not to discourage anyone from "crusin" Woodward but......
On Saturday once you leave our spot in Memorial Park you CAN NOT return with your Crossfire
They have this restriction to keep the traffic volume to a minimum and keep the park safe for all the people on foot admiring the cars.
The park has 25 acres of cars parked in it by 10:00am
On Friday you are allowed to come and go as you wish.
Gary, there's a $10 parking lot directly across from the entrance to the park. (Just in case anybody wants to leave and then come back).
We went to the park (like everybody else) last year, stayed a couple hours, met Mr. Stoddard, sat in the bleachers, then left to actually do some Cruising.
Later on we came back to the park, (they let me back in) and joined friends for dinner at Pasquale's.
After dinner we left the park to cruise some more, only my car was so dusty I was ashamed to be seen in it.

the freeways were all closed today, it was like a snow day in august, lol. I heard on the radio that the southfield freeway has 12 feet of standing water.
I have not made it that far west today yet but will need to tomorrow, I think they will have the water cleaned up by then.
