9th Annual Fall 2015 - Tail of the Dragon GTG-October 1, 2, 3, 4
I'm leaving in the morning and intend to arrive before sunset
Please spread the word about the Friday Drivers meeting at 9pm in the lobby
We have many new members attending so please extend a warm welcome to all of them as they arrive.
Umbrellas and jackets might be something to add to your list as you pack up the Crossfire for this weekend
Drive safely everyone, Gary

We will be doing a Saturday drive, not sure which one yet. We are thinking of doing the Franklin run with a detour to Bridal Falls (adds a little over an hour) since we haven't been there since we came across it years ago. We'll be leaving Sunday to drive down to Atlanta to catch the Cardinals final regular season game.
It is truly frustrating that I will likely miss another gathering. I do not take mine out in the rain and have commitments every First Friday.
Enjoy it all.
Enjoy it all.
We will be heading out from Nashville tomorrow around mid-morning. I'll be monitoring channel 7 on one of our FRS radios. Not the best weather, but looking forward to the trip all the same!
Weather is probably going to be rainy & wet over the weekend. Some forecasts call for major downpours (4" - 6") in 24-hr period. Roadways in Western NC mountains are dangerous enough in good weather. Everyone be extra careful to road conditions. It's not a good weekend event if someone has a major incident.
Enjoy & Stay Safe,
Enjoy & Stay Safe,
Later,
We have decided to cancel out as well...beginning to look pretty grim for the weekend. We'll wait it out and go back up for some fall color when the weather clears...Check out the Fryemont Inn In Bryson City.
Current from the NWS: includes Fontana and Swain County
* CONFIDENCE IS INCREASING THAT STORM TOTAL RAINFALL WILL REACH
THE 5 TO 10 INCH RANGE OVER THE WEEKEND. AMOUNTS COULD BE
LOCALLY HIGHER IN THE EAST FACING SLOPES OF THE SOUTHERN
MOUNTAINS...ESPECIALLY ACROSS EXTREME NORTHEAST GEORGIA AND THE
MOUNTAINS OF UPSTATE SOUTH CAROLINA. THESE PERIODS OF VERY HEAVY
RAINFALL ARE EXPECTED TO PRODUCE FLASH FLOODING ALONG SMALLER
CREEKS AND STREAMS...WITH SIGNIFICANT FLASH FLOODING
POSSIBLE...ESPECIALLY IN AREAS THAT ALREADY RECEIVED HEAVY RAIN
IN RECENT DAYS. HEAVY RUNOFF ON ALREADY SATURATED MOUNTAIN
TERRAIN CAN TRIGGER LANDSLIDES AND MUDSLIDES...ESPECIALLY IN
PLACES PRONE TO SLOPE MOVEMENT IN THE PAST. FLOODING WILL ALSO
LIKELY DEVELOP ALONG THE MAIN STEM RIVERS OVER THE WEEKEND AND
POSSIBLY PERSIST INTO EARLY NEXT WEEK. IN ADDITION...FREQUENT
GUSTS OF 30 TO 35 MPH FROM THE STRENGTHENING EASTERLY WINDS MAY
COMBINE WITH THE SATURATED SOIL CONDITIONS TO KNOCK DOWN
NUMEROUS TREES...RESULTING IN POWER OUTAGES. PEOPLE LIVING NEAR
STREAMS SHOULD MONITOR THE SITUATION CLOSELY THROUGH THE
WEEKEND. NOW IS THE TIME TO DECIDE WHAT TO DO IF THREATENED BY
FLOOD WATERS.

Yup...it is raining here but as always you can still have a good time when Crossfire owners get together
The runs still went on and the roads were free of the usual traffic probably due to the weather
So rain has it's advantages to keep the roads clear for cruising.
I have never been to a meet where weather spoils the fun
And we don't even need to detail the cars constantly because nobody has a clean Crossfire this weekend

Glad to hear all are having a good time. Everyone be careful heading home, if you're leaving today. Worst of the rain front is occurring today. Some places in SC below Columbia have gotten over 8" in past 24-hr period. Heard Hwy Patrol was restricting access to Charleston due to flooding.
We've had nearly 4" in Upstate SC and it's still pouring.
Drive Safe,

Murfi and I are probably the first ones home from a GREAT weekend on the Tail of the Dragon! Fast times and good food with new friends! Thanks to Pizza Guy for setting this up! Praying everyone gets home with a smile. Will post pix soon.

Au contraire !
I woke up at 03:30 EST and said what the heck.
Hit a tree across the road ( no damage ), almost hit 3 turkeys and 2 deer.
I was home at 07:30 CST.
That's for the great soggy run Saturday Jonathon !

Glad everyone had a great time regardless of the ugly forecast. I made the right decision staying home. Hardwood floors stained today, will get sealed tomorrow. Worked last 4 days. Still have a lot to do, so cars are sitting outside for the first time in years... Be safe for those staying until tomorrow. Forecast looks even worse for that area....
We split off with Jim & Karen once we made it back to the Ohio border. We had sunshine and warmer weather most of the way home. The car is a mess but will clean up just fine for next time.
The Train ride turned out to be a perfect excursion to escape the weather and still enjoy the day. A lot of pics were taken, I hope to see them here! Here is the only one I took that turned out.

Thanks to all that made it another great weekend.

Today was remarkable
the sun came out and the roads got dry
it was like every other great dragon beautiful weather and excellent runs pushing it hard and we all came back with exciting stories about the day with no tickets
Tonight we are sitting in the lobby just talking about what an excellent time this is no matter what the weather is like

I got home 1 1/2 hours ago. After wishing I could stay ONE more night, I hurried home so I could make my business trip to Wilmington, NC tomorrow.
WHAT WAS I THINKING? I talked to the customer just now, they think I should come NEXT week due to flooding! So, I'm home to sleep in MY bed, that is not all bad.
We had a WONDERFUL day today - the weekend was fun, and I think people liked my cave-and-underwater-lake adventure Saturday. I had a great time and THOUGHT about not going, but I'm sure glad I went. I met some new friends (and had way too little time to talk to them) and really liked seeing old friends.
As always, the first-timers made the weekend.
JONATHAN - Gary set THIS one up, Spring is mine!

Just got in St Peter's MO.
Left Tellico Plains after lunch with a lot of good friends about 1:00 Eastern time, Got home 8:15 central time.

91/2 hours with one stop for gas at the TN/Kentucky state line.
No tickets, no trouble, no Turkeys.
Had a great time, met some remarkable new people and a lot of old friends.
Here's my idea,,, let's do this again next year.

Glad you guys were there. As always a pleasure.
Did Murphy ever get to enjoy her dissert?
1500 miles later I am home safe. What a great weekend! It was fun meeting the first timers and seeing all the regulars. I think this was the best one yet.
Someone said it rained, we hardly noticed because we were having so much fun.

I made it home just before 10pm last night, too tired to post - Safe travels to all who are still on the road to home.
Thanks to everyone who attended (especially the first timers!) This group of people is what makes these events enjoyable regardless of the weather.
