9th Annual Fall 2015 - Tail of the Dragon GTG-October 1, 2, 3, 4
The list is updated in post #2
I will be leading a tourist/mild group down my new "secret" route, (Johnathan and Murfi also know about it) - this will include a ride up to "The Devil's Triangle" - but not a ride the Nick or the Gens do! A stop at the observation tower on the Parkway will be included as well.

Not sure if I'm going on Sat or Sun at this point. It kinda is determined by turnout and what Jonathan and Murfi are doing.
I suspect we will have quite the turnout this time, Jim.
I've wanted to do this 'tour' for two years, and only a big turnout supports it - and again, I think I see a big turnout coming this fall, so...
I"ve got to sneak up there sometime and scout out a restaurant for lunch (and, of course, determine where we will be at lunchtime).

yes we should have a great turn out.
Sounds like Saturday it is! I suspect Johnathan will do his Franklin/waterfall run and I will lead my tour of the parkway and the triangle.
I am thinking of putting together a new tourist run for anyone interested in getting some good waterfall pictures, i can even give a tutorial on the best settings at the same time.
Starts of with the "road to nowhere", then a stop for brunch in Bryson City, then on to Deep Creek trails & waterfalls which is very near to Bryson City. There are 3 waterfalls in the same "park", with a very short hike on good paths to see Juney Whank, Toms Branch and Indian Creek falls. I have been there before to take photographs, and it is a very pleasant area and a nice walk along the side a fast flowing river. Makes for good photo opportunities.
I am putting together a map and mileage to get an idea of popularity.

Jonathan's classic waterfall run will always be a favorite - but I think Andy and I have a good idea - new routes (or, in my case, a variation of a very LONG route the fast guys do).

"Road to nowhere, Bryson City & Deep Creek 3 Waterfalls run"
This will be an easy run, the journey time to the Road to nowhere is about an hour and is 41 miles. We will stop and look around the tunnel that leads to nowhere. The route up to the tunnel is nice and winding with some nice views once we get through Bryson City.
We will then head back into Bryson City (about 15 mins and 8 miles) and stop at the Everett Street Diner for brunch.
After brunch we will head on to the Deep Creek Waterfalls which is only about 10 mins and 3 miles from Bryson City. There is a parking lot there and good signs for the 3 falls.
We will head uphill on the trail to the Juney Whank Falls, this is not a long or too strenuous hike. We then head back down the next trail to Toms Branch Falls. Then a pleasant walk alongside a fast flowing river and over a bridge to Indian Creek Falls.
I have photographed all these falls and although they are not very high they are very picturesque and in nice settings. A nice stroll back along the other riverbank to the parking lot and then head back to the lodge which is a about 1 hour and 36 miles.
If we leave at 9am from the lodge we should be back by late afternoon.

That can work, IF we don't have 75 cars this fall - but I gotta tell ya, I get the feeling we WILL have quite a few.
Reservation made, Arrive Thursday. First time at the Dragon. Looking forward to
meeting you all and putting faces with names.

You want to go? Then pick up the phone and reserve a room.
