Florida Caravan Possibilities for Driving Up to the Fall 2018 Crossfire Gathering at Fontana ?

Several Florida Crossfire Forum members (East, South, ??) are going to attend, so just wondering if possible to join up somewhere and drive up together. Some are leaving Florida in time to arrive on Thursday, some are leaving Thursday to arrive Fiday, some are leaving early Friday and driving up in 1 day.. others leaving when ? ..

Example- Saul and Len are leaving from Titusville on early Friday morning, expecting to drive Interstates I-95, I-26, etc. to arrive at Fontana late Friday afternoon or evening.

So lets reply and see if some "joining Up caravans" are possible .. Thanks .. ..

 

Just a suggestion, but keep your caravans small. 4 cars max would be my recommendation.

Trying to pull 12 cars over so two cars can use the restroom creates a 30 minute stop as everyone gets out of their cars and starts gabbing.

 

I would join you but i will be in north Ga, the month of Sept. a little over one hour from the dragon.

I edited your title (to make it stand out better) and made this a "sticky" so that it appears at the top of the page.
I hope this is OK, I wanted to promote the idea of "convoys", as traveling with a few others is a good idea.

As to Nick's comment, he has a point. So, if anyone else is planning a convoy from Florida, here is a place to discuss it - with some leaving Thursday (or earlier) and some leaving Friday, there will be more than one convoy, I suspect.

I will be leaving Early Friday morning for arrival Friday afternoon. I am near Brunswick, GA so if anyone will be going down I-95 I can meet up.

 

We have 52 rooms booked, so call now.
If you run into any brick walls talking to them, let me know. I MIGHT be able to help.
Last time, they gave us poolside rooms for $105 or so a night as we had all the rest booked.

Of course, the GENS have a LOT of cabins full, too. Gonna be a BIG party.

 

Diana and I will be leaving FL and getting down road about 4hrs to leave us 5hr trip in AM... taking Blue Ridge pkwy south of Asheville to connection pn 74/28.

 

We will be leaving Upstate SC on Thursday, but I expect we'll be ahead of most of the convoy traveling I-26. We plan to stop in Dillsboro, NC & eat at Kosta's Family Restaurant for lunch. It is a great place to eat!

I plan on running over to the motorcycle museum Friday and stopping by there on the way back.

We need one or two options for Friday. I was going to lead a drive/hike to the "Road to NoWhere" but I really like the idea of going back to that museum.

 

We might want to tag along to this museum. Can't say we've ever been there.

Len Coppold and Saul Klein have decided to leave a day early and take mostly 2-lane backroads up to Fontana. We will be driving our Crossfires Thursday morning from Titusville, up to Jacksonville, Callahan, then 301 to Orangeburg, SC, then 178 north through SC, picking up 215 at Rosman, NC, to Pkwy, then on 74, 28 to Fontana before noon, Friday. Old guys(young at heart), taking old way up!

 

Hey! Why are you posting this "chatter" about going to the museum in the "Florida Dragon Convoy" thread? You guys should know better . . .
