Description:
Hello there,
I'm looking to buy an SB for my SRT6. First generation would be best.
Thank you
Re: WTB: Sprint Booster for SRT6
Your looking for a Sprint Booster # 451A, it was designated for the SRT6 only back in 2005/2006. You may find it by googling the part number and it may be available on EBAY parts.
Good Luck....

Re: WTB: Sprint Booster for SRT6
There is a thread on here created by me named "Cheaper Alternative to Sprint Booster". There essentially is a copy of the sprint booster called 9-Drive which works exactly the same, actually has more settings depending what model you get at a fraction of the cost ($45 or less depending on where you buy it from). It has 3 settings (Stock, Improved Driving and Racing mode), each come with 9 fine tune settings.
Mine also came with "Valet" mode where your car will only run to lower RPMs and limited throttle to prevent valet drivers from "testing" out the capabilities of your vehicle.
Important part is to not get the Chrysler Crossfire version as that will NOT fit our cars, but rather the Mercedes R170 version. Here is a link to one on Amazon:
There are a couple of YouTube videos out there, too. One of them is a guy using the same device on a Crossfire and talking about his experience.
Good luck with whatever route you take. I used to own a Sprint Booster and now the 9-Drive and no matter what you hear, it literally makes the car handle entirely different. The way a car like the Crossfire should have come from the factory with that silly lag eliminated.
EDIT: Just checked the reviews for the 9-Drive on Amazon. Both from Crossfire drivers. So I assume someone read my post here a while back 😂

Re: WTB: Sprint Booster for SRT6
The 9Drive unit is a very good, inexpensive, device that nearly everyone who has installed one has had positive reviews for. As mentioned above just be sure to buy the one for a Mercedes and not the one listed for the Chrysler Crossfire. Their online fitment charts are wrong. Many found out the hard way (including myself). You want unit number KA-873.

Once I found out about these almost all of my friends got them for their Mercedes, Audis, BMW etc and they have loved them.
SOme of these come with more functions than the actual Sprint Booster like a Valet mode etc. They are nifty devices. Don't waste your money on the expensive ones.
Re: WTB: Sprint Booster for SRT6
There wasn't any fine tuning settings.
But to be honest, the original sprint booster worked just as well. Really no need to upgrade. I don't think you would see a difference in performance as these devices are rather simple tools to remove the lag. Doesn't give more hp/torque, it just removes the drive by wire lag and therefore feels a lot more responsive.
Re: WTB: Sprint Booster for SRT6
I understand where you’re coming from, I realise they only eliminate the lag from the drive by wire. But for the price £33 it’s a lot better and modern looking unit. I found the TCU tune made the car more enjoyable to drive. Being able in keep it in full manual mode is great and brilliant for dyno runs.

Perhaps because there is a lot of bad ones out there??
Re: WTB: Sprint Booster for SRT6
I think it makes a huge difference in the way the car shifts. TCU tunes are super interesting. They don't get get the recognition they deserve. Most people just talk about ECU tunes. Maybe because for a while the TCU tune options were less than stellar and some of them made shifting worse or more jerky than before.
But things definitely have changed and TCU tunes have come a long way. Been intrigued by the TJ Merry (MK Ultra Electronics) TCU tunes (mainly focuses on M113K) and then there is a super interesting project of a young programmer who built the TCU for the 722.6 transmissions from scratch with much faster hardware and capabilities. I am following his project on youtube Click here
That is a very promising endeavor and it's still in the Beta testing phase. He has a few testers and keeps putting out weekly updates to the firmware.
It's basically an open source project where in the future it can be tailored to your personal needs and even by yourself with matching software. But the actual TCU is what's interesting as it's so much more powerful and opens so many more capabilities than the relatively limited Siemens stock TCU in our cars. Can't wait to see where he takes it.
