clutch out at 20,000 mi
clutch out at 20,000 mi
Well, add clutch failure to the laundry list of problems with this car. Convertible top hydraulics failure, a/c failure, weather-stripping around the drivers window replaced twice, a/c vent broken, fog lamp falling apart on the inside, tire pressure warning failure and now they want about $2,000.00 to fix the clutch. Anyone else need clutch work at 20,000 miles. I don't even get on it. I've had 50+ stick shift cars from vettes to Porsches and never had one go. The dealer and Chrysler won't help me with it either, wear item not covered.
Any one know someone that can give me some advice here?

Re: clutch out at 20,000 mi
Did you buy your Xfire used? Wear could have been at the hands of first owner? So, during normal driving, have you smelled burning clutch lining or had trouble engaging the clutch? Car drove well in all gears during your ownership? Could be hydraulics not operating to spec... but that would make the lining burn and you'd get crappy performance. Dunno... Was it the clutch lining that wore out or some other portion? It's hard to get any dealership to do clutch/brakes under warranty unless there is a definite TSB about it... The early SRT-4's had a problem at the factory where there was a bolt not torqued to spec and it would slowly come out until it destroyed the clutch... Perhaps something like that? Did they actually open up the clutch and check it out, detailing the wear items, or just drive it around and say, "Ya, it's your clutch..." ? Just spending a bit to investigate the issue might save you that $2K.

I've asked several times in the past that people who claim to have got somewhere higher in the food chain pass on some contacts, but no one has ever came through. So what about it, what's your secret to get results?
