Default Bicycle Rack

Has anyone ever tried to carry a bicycle or found a bicycle rack that can fit my aero blue roadster?

A 20" bike and a couple of muffler clamps and you can clamp the wheels to the roll bars when the top is down. LOL!!!

I don't think there is anything available but you could make a few bucks if you figure out how to make one.

For those that are interested, I found a bicycle rack that works for the Crossfire. It is made by Saris, and is called "Bones 2". To use it, you have to put the spoiler up, then attach it. The only downside is that the top can't be moved (up or down) and the trunk can't be opened when the rack is attached. That is OK for my use because I only take it for short trips.

That's a good find StevieRay...didn't think it would be possible.

Hi StevieRay,

That's great news! I have been looking for a rack since I bought my xfire and the Bones was the only one that looked like it might fit. However I emailed the manufacturer and they replied that it would not fit, so I gave up on the idea. I also asked the dealer and they suggested I use a tow hitch mounted rack. Are you carrying a road bike or an MTB?

Stevie Ray,
When I searched the saris website, they ask for the car model make and year to find a rack for you, but I got this: http://www.saris.com/fitresults.aspx...bmit=Find+Rack

Do you know anyone that has one on a roadster, and if so is there any pics of it somewhere?
Regards,

Hi Guys,

Just to let you know, I bought one of these and use it on my XF Roadster. I do not have any pictures of it now, but next time I put it on I'll take pictures.

I am carrying a mountain bike.

One thing I forgot to mention earlier is that the straps that are supposed to fit forward on the trunk cannot fit the way it is supposed to. You have to wrap the strap around the top of the center post in order to get more height so it will clear the spoiler without touching.

I'll try to take some pictures so you can see.

Sorry it took so long to get the pictures posted, but here they are. There are three key items to remember:

1. The spoiler must be locked up - it will stay up, but won't stay down.
2. Wrap the front straps around the center post so the straps will clear the spoiler.
3. You cannot raise and lower the top once the rack is on.

Works for me. Hope this helps guys.

I wouldn't know.

I found out by going to a bike shop that has one, and asking them to help me fit it before I bought it. Maybe you could try that.

It cost $125. You may be able to find it cheaper on the internet, but since the guy at the bike shop took so long to fit it to the car, I bought it from him.

Awesome!! Looks decent for a temporary/removable rack. The design of the rack looks good! How are the contact points with rubbing on the paint??

Wow, a 2+ year old thread raised from the dead. Nice use of the search.

While I've never used a bike rack on a xfire, I've used them on other cars and have used towels at the contact points to protect the paint.
