Do you guys like the fact that they're now giving away crossfires?

Papa John's (pizza place) and now Old Navy...

 

Well, I am not sure if giving one away de-values our car, but it does probably indicate that the dealers are anxious to clear their lots of these cars. I mentioned in another thread that the promotion that I saw today was for a roadster, but the promoters could not find a roadster available on the West Coast. Turns out, I happened to have parked my car near where they were setting up and the about fell out of their shoes. It was fun to show off my car, and I don't mind that no one seems to have them available. On my way home, I counted 3 Miatas, 3 Boxters, a few Sebrings, and a couple of Volvo convertibles. My roadster is unique and might end up being a 'one of a kind' sooner than later.

 

The way I figure it is this...

A company isn't going to give something away that wouldn't be desired/admired by a large number of people...what would be the point?

I am proud to own a car that someone else would admire and desire to win in a contest.

 

That's nothing new, DC has been doing this since late 04'. At one point you could get a coupon for one on overstock.com. I don't think this will devalue our cars (DC is doing a bang up job themselves) but it will have an effect.

 

Here's my two cents.
I saw the Old Navy commercial again, and the first place prize was a crossfire coupe the second place prize was $50,000.

I personally think that this will make the car look more appealing/expensive because people will think if second prize is 50k then the car is worth more than 50k.

I think its working because this lady stopped me at the gas station saying "my son loves your show, can I get him an autograph". I scribbled on a piece of paper. LMAO (I wonder who she thought I was???).

 

actually in the old navy commercial its an srt-6 roadster.

 

I remember on the website, it said a crossfire was the first prize, I think they just showed the most expensive well equipped model, to attract people into Old Navy stores.
(I think if they were giving an Srt-6 away they would of said it clearly ).

 

Went to their website and the picture they show is of an SRT6 Roadster which does have an MSRP of over $51K.

 

I knew I was right out of sheer curiosity, the fact I'm sitting in my office at work with nothing to do. And the fact I think I'm always right, I contacted old navys corp headquarters and they contacted me back saying it is an srt6 roadster.

 

Two things...

• Can I have your job?
• You thought you were once wrong but you were mistaken, correct?
