Interesting tidbit
I gassed up today at a gas station by my house that also serves as a body shop/automotive center and noticed someone lingering around my car (daily event!) when I went to get some coffee.
I go outside and the man starts talking to me about the car and I find out he's the owner of the station. He proceeds to tell me that he bought a Crossfire Roadster LTD (gray, solid interior) from a mechanic in NY that he's friends that was totaled (front end only) for $12K. He then starts asking me all these questions and of course, he wants to know what I paid for my car. Instead of telling him the price (DUH), I said that I overpaid based on what they can be purchased for today and then told him some prices that I've seen you guys quote.
He then says he's gonna fix it and sell it. I laughed and told him that chances are after he fixes it and drives it for the first time that he'll be hooked and won't want to sell it.
But what I find amazing is a car that requires extensive work would still cost $12K. Its supposed to arrive next week and will be outside where I can see it - so I am interested to see the condition its in.
