Electrical Problems
Is anyone having problems with the ac/fan on their crossfire? I have a 2005 Ltd roadster. I bought it used with 11,000 miles. Only problem I've ever notices is that the fan will blast erratically when it's on, no matter how high or low I have it. So yesterday I drove approx. 150 miles to get home and during the trip, the fan kept kicking high then low. When I got home and turned off the ignition, the fan continued to blow although I had turned off the ignition and turned the fan to the off position. I had no choice but to leave it running that way over night, so of course this morning, the battery was dead. A visit from the road service guy could not get it to jumpstart, although the fan, radio, etc. all came on when he attached the jumper cables. Now it's at the dealership, and I'm waiting to hear from them. I'm just curious to know if anyone else has had any problems?
Hi,
I wonder if you managed to get the problem with your ventilation system on your Crossfire sorted.
When we start our car up from cold the fan surges for perhaps a second then say one second with no fan at all followed by perhaps a 2 second burst and so it continues to a lesser extent before stopping surging altogether. This is also accompanied by a slight squealing noise from under the dashboard.
My initial thoughts are that either:
The main fan is slipping while the motor tries to turn or
Something is wrong with the fan speed controller, this second option could also be tied into the fact that adjusting the fan speed sometimes seems to have no effect until it’s nearly set to maximum.
Has you any thoughts or even better still some schematic diagrams and electrical diagrams so I can have a look for myself.
Thanks,
Alan.

My fan started acting up last week. A puff of smoke came out which had the smell of an electrical short. The fan stopped running, with the exception of high, but continues to smell. It did not continue to run, but the smell lingers each time I tried it.
It is in the shop now for the fan issue, replacement steering wheel, replacement of the black tape were the top meets the deck and and oil change, @ 21,000.

The wiring schematics are in there. Hope this helps.
I still believe as I have stated in past posts that a lot of the electrical issues that are popping up are due to the fact that many XFires have just been sitting on dealers lots and at the dock. I may be wrong in this assumption, but the issues that are are appearing are varied, again just my 2 cents.
OK for all the xfires having a fan AC/Heat blowing problem. Mine was having the same problem it turned out to be the blower control module. Little hard to come by right now. Talked with Chrysler.com tech and was told the same, if you really have a problem solving he suggest Mercedes dealer.

Same here, took the car in today and it's the blower control module on my car too. Unit is now on back order and will take 1 to 2 weeks for delivery.
Keep you all posted on the outcome, thanks for the advice Sue!

I picked up my car last night, dealer had the for car 3 days.
He said the replacement blower/control module, whatever they
replaced, had to come from Nashville.
With the weather here in Chicago area, I don't think it would have
been fun to drive. I had to keep opening up the window to dry out
the air, otherwise the windows & windshield kept fogging up.
Good luck to those waiting.

All,
Thanks for the advice posted, it did turn out to be the blower control module. This has now been replaced FOC and the system is now working perfectly.
