Default Little wrench on dash is on.

Have had the oil changed every 3,000 miles, and keep it in tip top condition. Then this little wrench pops up on the dash by the miles odo. when I crank it up. WHY? It stays on for 30 seconds or so then goes off. Has not effected the performance of the car but has me concerned. Any suggestions?

the dealer forgot to reset your service indicator... below are details on how you can reset it yourself... it may take multiple attempts... if one step is missed it won't reset.

the indictor will not create any harm... its just a remainder.

RESETTING THE FSS MAINTENANCE INDICATOR AFTER AN OIL CHANGE:

1. Move the ignition switch to the “RUN” position.

2. Within 4 seconds of moving the ignition switch into the
“RUN” position, press the reset button for the trip odometer
twice within one second. The display for the FSS service
request is activated for 10 seconds.

3. During the 10 seconds the FSS service request is displayed,
move the ignition switch to the “OFF” position.
The FSS service request will continue to be displayed.

4. Press the reset button for the trip odometer and hold.

5. Move the ignition switch to the “RUN” position.

6. Continue to press and hold the reset button for the trip
odometer (about 10 seconds) until the audible signal
sounds and the new start distance appears in the display.
The tool symbol should disappear at this time.

If you are changing your oil every 3K miles are you using Mobil 1 each time? That is what your should be using in these engines. If you are, you are probably doing it too often. Recommended is 7K intervals. If you don't drive much, then it is probably OK once a year.

I did drive it everyday until about 3 months ago. I have since parked it and only drive it on weekends. I am using mobil 1 but thought it had to be changed every 3,000... my bad.

Thanks for the steps Andrew.
