Latch in Trunk Broke off/Top won't go Down
My dear husband
installed my illuminated wind screen and in doing the wiring, he managed to break off the plastic piece that holds the section that folds up and down in the trunk and which must be correctly in place in order for the top to go down. He tried to super glue it, but it didn't hold. But, I just got an extended warranty and am hoping I can get this part replaced. He claims he didn't do anything harsh to the part but that it broke off when he was doing the re-wiring. Does anyone know if this is a part that sells separately and can be ordered and installed without too much hassle. Do I take it in and see what they say...do you think they'll claim the wind screen installation caused the damage and therefore, it's not covered.
Of course, with our limited amount of sun around here, this week is beautiful and I was forced to drive around town with the top up. It about killed me! Any help would be great.
I have a dimmer switch that needs to be put on, but I think I'm taking it to an expert...should have done that to begin with...I can't push him on it though...he gets very cranky!

I have my fingers crossed for you, depending on your dealers mind set they will more than likely try to blame it on the installation of the wind screen wiring.
Thanks, all. I was able to talk to my dealer and they got the part ordered. It was only $23 and will be here tomorrow. My husband "claims" he can install it himself and it's not a big deal. (Should I believe him???) I couldn't get into the service to have them do it until Monday...and it's suppose to be in the 80's today.
As for the pressure point that could be taped down...any chance you can explain what I am to look for? It's kind of dark in the trunk and the carpet piece blocks the piece...but I might be able to figure out how to tape it down if I had some instruction
The dimmer is for the windscreen. Right now, it's hooked to the light switch. I want to be able to have the until come on if I apply my brakes or to dim the switch if I elect to have it with my lights on but not illuminate too brightly.
It's probably going to be awhile before I get this installed unless I take it somewhere...
I really don't want to ask him to rewire the unit.
Would a car /audio place be able to do the install? Any guesses what it might cost? I would rather have it done correctly rather than put him through this again...
