Undisclosed Damage on 2006 Limited Roadster # 67931
2 weeks ago I had my dealer in Orlando locate me a 2006 Crossfire Limited Roadster, Sapphire Silver Blue, 1C3AN65L66X067931. My dealer located it at Potamkin in Miami and sent a truck to get it. It arrived in Orlando with at night on 7/31/07 and had a dent on the right front fender and I could not see any other damages at night. The driver who got it said that Potamkin noted the damages and would pay my dealer to fix it. I told my dealer to fix it and I would be back to get it when ready. I arrived back to get it on 08/10/07 and then when inspecting it discovered the following additional damages:
1. Pin hole in passengers leather seat
2. Broken glass in some areas of the interior.
I then got the Sales Manager and he contacted Potamkin who then disclosed that the car was damaged by vandals.
We then ended up unwinding the whole deal and found me a different one. When they sent the car back to Potamkin they also mentioned that it also had bumper damage that they fixed and we were also unaware of.
If someone purchases this car it has damages that are not being disclosed. Potamkin was mad at me and my dealer for sending the car back and told them not to do a locate with them again. They were the ones who failed to disclose all the damages and they are mad at me for refusing it and having my dealer unwind the deal and send it back, give me a break.
Just an FYI so nobody gets scammed with this car.

Gotta love it when people get mad when they get busted for doing something wrong, and try to pass blame to someone else. Class act that dealership is. Glad it's going to work out for you, and I hope the heads up helps someone else in the future.
Reading this got me nervous, I just bought a 2006 Crossfire Limited Roadster, Sapphire Silver Blue from Potamkin yesterday. It was on the showroom floor with 12 miles on it. No damage I can see & my vin ends in 130 not 931. They only had 2 in stock mine & a black one. They seemed kind of shady as they only had one key & wrote on the order they owe me one also gave me 2005 manuals.
Was looking at Crossfires on autotrader.com & cars.com. I noticed that exact car that was now damaged for sale at Tropical Chrysler.

When shopping for mine yesterday I was going to go to them next if Potamkin did not give me a good deal. Lucky for me they did.

They had 2 identical ones on the lot and gave my dealer the damaged one. Then they got mad when I figured out what they were doing.
All I want to do is make sure whoever buys this car has it disclosed.
Now I hope all the unwinding on the deal is complete. We did all the docs on it back on 7/31/07 and it was even loaded in Chrysler Financial, got the survey from Chrysler and all that. Do they now have to sell it as a used or does the unwinding of the deal keep it as new?
I didn't give back any of the documents in the event I have problems in the future.
In the end the one I had brought in and took delivery of Saturday is better looking.

I just filled in the Request Quote & Noted "This car has been Damaged".
Anyone else?
It will give them something to think about, before selling it to another unsuspecting person.
It also had a small scratch on the center console on left back side near the shift. Small pinhole on passengers seat where the two tone bottom is.
When they picked it up from Miami on 07/31 it arrived in Orlando as it was getting dark. The only damage we could see in the dark was on the front right fender that night. Then on 08/10 when they fixed the dent I discovered the seat and console. The car had 28 miles on it.
They sent it back to Miami on Monday 08/13.

I guess Potamkin pawned it off to Tropical at a good price for them to sell. Potamkin only had 2 when I bought mine Sunday, a black on & the one I got. Seems that they would have kept the damaged one, repaired it & sold it instead of sending it to Tropical unless it originally came from Tropical.
I checked CarFax today on this VIN#. No records for it, but I do not have a CarFax membership at this time. It appears that the car has never been registered. Can someone with a CarFax membership run this one? What puzzles me is that the fender repair does not show up. It does show this as a Crossfire Roadster so the vin should be good.

I don't know if it will show until it is registered. One question was it originally in Potamkin or Tropical as it is there now. If anyone is in the Miami area take a look at it at Tropical check the window sticker as it will have the delivered dealer on it.
Carfax relies on the dealers and service repair facilities to report to them.
I somehow doubt the dealer would report the damage on a car that they have been trying to pawn off on unsuspecting people.

When it was brought to Orlando it didn't have the sticker on it anywhere. Since I have all the documents for the transaction I had them cancel on this should I forward it to CarFax? Will they accept it?
Also I attached a pic of it in Orlando that I took at the dealer with my iPhone.

I believe I found an email to inform CarFax of this. I emailed of the info and informed them I have all the contracts and docs to send them if they need it.
