Default My Xfire is Now Mine

For the last 39 months I have been leasing my xfire with 9/28/07 being the end of my lease. So on 9/20/07 I turned in my xfire and bought it back on 9/28/07 at a better price than my buy out price on my lease. Its nice to look at the registration and just see my name without the Chrysler name next to it.

Congratulations on your "re-purchase".

I am sure you will still enjoy the ride.

You are still a member of the best forum going.

If I may ask - what did you end up paying for your XF between the lease and purchase?

I leased my car when the roadsters first came out and the lease was based on a $40,430 sticker and my residual value at the end of my lease was $23,800 then I bought it back for $21,800. I was hoping to pay $21,000 or maybe a little less but I now how the car has been maintained and driven so it was worth what I had to pay. I'm just glad everything worked out so I could keep my Crossfire!!!

Glad to see you keeping your car.

So, is this like divorcing the wife, and turning around, and marrying her all over again? Is there any make-up ... ?

Good move. Congrats & Welcome back! So, can I put you down as confirmed now, instead of tentative, for the Nov 10&11 Meet?
Enjoy "Your" XF!

Not yet, I still have to see what's going on at work as the date gets closer.

Congratulations, it is a beautiful machine, a keeper for sure. It will be good to see "her" and you at some more GTG's.

Nice to know there's a fellow "owner" out there amongst the sea of "lessors"!

Congratulations!

I'll be in the same situation in April but was under the impression that what you did was not possible with a Chrysler lease. How did you go about it?

It is possible. You yourself can't do it I don't believe. I think, correct me if I'm wrong, that if the dealer wants to keep the car for their own used car inventory then they have a limited number of days to request a market adjusted wholesale price from Chrysler. Chrysler will usually do it, as it saves them the trouble of transporting it and auctioning it off again for even less. My guess is you would have to have the dealer do this on your behave and have them agree to sell it back to you for the adjusted price plus a little for their trouble. That's the way it worked about 5 years ago when I worked for a Chrysler Dealership. I never had to do it while working at the Dodge dealer, as you see very few Dodge's Leased. Ford Lincoln Mercury does it that way too.

Good to hear. I bet you will be even MORE obsessive about your baby now that the title is actually in your name.

I turned the car in to the dealer and the dealer bought the car then about a week later I bought the car back and I didn't even have to pay a lease return fee because I just bought a new Sebring and Chrysler waived the fee. Everything worked out pretty good all the way around.
