Default Instrument Cluster Question

Have a 2006 Roadster Limited with Auto. Since this afternoon the lcd #'s for the outside temp, trip, odo & clock stay on. No lights w/o the key in the ignition but just the #'s not backlighted. They refuse to disappear with the key out. This morning when I first put the key in no #'s as I noticed because I pushed the left button to check the oil level when I saw the oil icon. I took the car for service to have them adjust the strikers as the doors rattled with the top down, since then the #'s stay on as I noticed the service writer had to put the key in the ignition to get the #'s to come up but since then they stay on. Any ideas???

Sorry for you... and me, Happened the same thing to me just a few hours ago. I took my car yesterday for an oil change, this morning there was a pool of oil on the garage floor opened the hood and found the oil filter O ring sticking out from the filter (too tight). Ok, they send a flat bed put an new O ring and washed the engine compartment, I asked them to reset the FSS (didn't do it yesterday). And I think that there where the problem started, when I got home from the shop it was dark and then I noticed that when turned off the lights and the car, took out the key the backlight of the odometer and the FSS stayed on.

I think it has to be something with the steps for resetting the FSS system, this is my second oil change the first shop could not reset the damn thing had to do it myself (have the service manual) that was what made me go to another shop and I think they don't know how to do it too.

I'm going to mess with the buttons tomorrow, if I fix it I will let you know but if you already fixed yours PLEASE let me know.

After 2 days it went off & has not stayed on again. Spoke with my dealer who said they need to see it stuck on to diagnose the problem.

I reset the FSS myself last week. No problem that I have noticed. Must be a bug in your car.

While adjusting my wiper fluid nozzles last night, I experienced the following.

My Temp/Mileage/Trip LCDs stayed on (no backlighting) after I removed the key from the ignition. After 5 or 10 minutes, I looked to see if the LCDs were still on. They had gone out.

Could the LCDs staying on be linked to the other items that stay on after the key is removed such as the radio and interior lights?
