Got splashed inside the car, at the carwash today!
Hey guys, this is the first convertible I have ever owned. So this may be normal... I don't know. Bottom line is that the car is still under warranty so if it's a problem I'm going to go get it fixed!
We had the top fully closed today and went through the car wash. The guys were going around the car with the pressure washer things before we actually entered the automated car wash. All of a sudden I feel a splash of water! I look and the painted body section behind the seats is a little wet! So obviously he sprayed it just right and some of the water came inside and splashed inside the car a bit.
Now, we're not talking much water, but I don't know how air-tight these are supposed to be! Am I going to have to worry about ice INSIDE the car in the Michigan winters?? Should I look at getting this fixed? When we went through the automated car wash, no water came in... just when the guy nailed it with the hand-held pressure gun. And it never comes in when it's raining either.
Any insight would be helpful. Thanks in advance!!

You have just been initiated into the world of convertibles...they will leak, some worse than others. Words of caution (but you have already found this out) NEVER...NEVER use a pressure washer around the top area of a convertible. Especially around the base of the top wear it meets the tonneau cover or wear it meets the top of the windshield or the side windows.
There is a TSB for cabin noise on our cars, if you hear air in the cabin with the top up while you are driving then this is an issue. Take the car back to your dealer and have the windows adjusted. But again never use a pressure washer around the top area, the guys at the car wash should know this if there are professionals.
TBS: 4-May-04 - 23-014-04 - Body - Wind Noise From Top of Door
TBS: 28-Jan-05 - 23-004-05 - Body - Window Glass Misaligned and or Contacts Roof

You took your Crossfire through a carwash???!!!
I don't know what's worse...going through a carwash...or admitting it on this forum! Some people here view that as sacrilegious!

And the person who owned this car before f'd up the wheels enough where it doesn't matter anyway... I mean REALLY f'd them up.
I'll make sure I tell them to keep away from the top when spraying it off...
I don't trust droptops in automatic carwashes ... That's the only thing that would keep me from running the Crossfire through. I've put more expensive and rare cars through them occasionally, so it wouldn't concern me. I do find handwashing very relaxing though. I enjoy it!

Banished for life, off with the head!!!
preferred method of washing the crossfire (in my gallery) is having the wife do it.
FYI the only car that ever saw a car wash of mine was the wife's first mini van.

I take my car through touchless car washes - some on this site don't agree with doing that, however for those that don't have the time to handwash (like me) that's really the only way to keep a clean car.
Good luck and may you not get splashed in the back of the head again!
Good thread.
I have actually been a little nervous about taking my convertible through the automatic wash. My first convertible also.
Anyway it isn't that much trouble to do a manual wash. The car is pretty small.

(I'm glad my wife doesn't read the forum / that's why I'm so brave).

It's a cool feeling huh.
My xfires will never see the inside of a carwash. Besides, they are wayyy too easy to handwash. Luv seeing the wifey washing them too.
