Slasher Stripes

When I first got it I thought it seemed really flimsy and not terribly sticky. I made a quickie template of the angle of the door opening at the bottom then used that to determine the cut angle at the top of the sheet (flip the template around to cut the sheet for the other side). Since the sheet was 5" wide I just slit it down the middle to get two pieces, each 2.5" wide. Each piece needs to be roughly 7" long but I didn't measure that exactly as I just trimmed off the underside of the car when done. I did give the rocker panel area a good cleaning with a wax and grease remover, then used a body filler spatula to smooth out the stripes as I applied them. My initial fear of them not feeling very sticky proved unwarranted though as adhesion was excellent. I rolled the back of the car up on ramps for easier access and just eye balled the gap between the stripes, but the whole install took a whopping 15 minutes at most.
The finish is a metallic silver and only slightly darker than the other silver trim on the car. I'm normally very picky about this sort of thing but I'm very pleased with the final result.

And they'd all be right.

Although I'm willing to bet if any of us were to apply slasher stripes in purple with flourescent orange polka-dots on them everyone else here would say it was wrong. Very wrong.

I never said they were "wrong"................to each his own. I'm not driving his car or your car. All I can say is that they would never go on MY car. My general response to people that don't like mods I do to my car is "do you own the car..........no..........then don't worry about it". The beauty of open forums and life in general is that everybody gets to openly voice their opinion and/or thoughts.

What is the actual significance and/or meaning of these "slasher stripes"?
I know the single diaganol stripe on a persons driver side fender indicates that he is a rookie driver..........for road course events. I'm just wondering if these types of stripes have some meaning as well.
