Default Slasher Stripes

After stumbling across a couple of threads discussing "slasher stripes" I decided to do the same to my car. Quick and easy installation too. I like it.

Nice what did you use or where did you get them from?

Looks nice. I've contemplated doing that since I saw Sennaspirit's at Woodward.
I would like to try 3 smaller stripes to keep w/the 3/6 line theme of the car.

In another thread SennaSpirit had linked to http://www3.towerhobbies.com/cgi-bin...?&I=LXHX83&P=7 which is a product called
Top Flite Trim MonoKote Aluminum. I called several hobby shops locally but nobody had it so I ordered from Tower Hobbies. Yeah, the stuff was only a couple bucks but with shipping it came to $11.48 so shipping was like 3x the cost of the material!!

When I first got it I thought it seemed really flimsy and not terribly sticky. I made a quickie template of the angle of the door opening at the bottom then used that to determine the cut angle at the top of the sheet (flip the template around to cut the sheet for the other side). Since the sheet was 5" wide I just slit it down the middle to get two pieces, each 2.5" wide. Each piece needs to be roughly 7" long but I didn't measure that exactly as I just trimmed off the underside of the car when done. I did give the rocker panel area a good cleaning with a wax and grease remover, then used a body filler spatula to smooth out the stripes as I applied them. My initial fear of them not feeling very sticky proved unwarranted though as adhesion was excellent. I rolled the back of the car up on ramps for easier access and just eye balled the gap between the stripes, but the whole install took a whopping 15 minutes at most.

The finish is a metallic silver and only slightly darker than the other silver trim on the car. I'm normally very picky about this sort of thing but I'm very pleased with the final result.

I had a graphics shop create and place mine. $25 and they will replace them if they start to come off. It's been 1 1/2 years and there are no signs of peeling.

Not my cup of tea. I always think of Saleen(and Mustanks) when I see those stripes.

It's a personalization mod on your car - who's to say what's right or wrong? If you like them that's all that matters. I'm not a fan of carbon fiber add ons or chrome wheels, other people love them. To Moparrbust these stripes, regardless of color or placement, are not his cup of tea. Fine, I respect that. There's a big difference between "I don't care for it" and "what you did is wrong". Although I'm willing to bet if any of us were to apply slasher stripes in purple with flourescent orange polka-dots on them everyone else here would say it was wrong. Very wrong.

And they'd all be right.

I never said they were "wrong"................to each his own. I'm not driving his car or your car. All I can say is that they would never go on MY car. My general response to people that don't like mods I do to my car is "do you own the car..........no..........then don't worry about it". The beauty of open forums and life in general is that everybody gets to openly voice their opinion and/or thoughts.

Reread my post - I agree with you 100% and never said you that you said it was "wrong", just that you didn't care for it and that I respect your opinion. Remember, I said There's a big difference between "I don't care for it" and "what you did is wrong".

thanks, give it a shot. Its pretty simple to do and does not take much effort, so if you dont like it just peel it off.

I removed the 6" wide stripes and added the narrower 3" stripes just behind the door:

What is the actual significance and/or meaning of these "slasher stripes"?

I know the single diaganol stripe on a persons driver side fender indicates that he is a rookie driver..........for road course events. I'm just wondering if these types of stripes have some meaning as well.
