Base/Roadster/Limited Kills (Us Too!)
Why should the SRT-6ers have all the glory and fun?
The N/A's are no slouches, ya' know?
I tore up a 2006 Acura TL-s on the way to work this morning and stopped to talk to the young man piloting. It's his dad's hand-me-down and he thought it was enough to take a xFire. We talked awhile and traded compliments (his is a good looking car).
Just thought I'd share.

I didn't purchase my XFire to race but we all know it feels good to participate in an informal show of vehicle prowess occasionally.
I had a yellow Vette take me on the inside the other evening on a divided roadway with two lanes in one direction. He was kind of passing traffic on both sides working his way up the road. Then came the traffic equalizer better known as a red light. I ended up directly behind him at the light. The odd thing was the first vehicle at the light in the adjacent lane was an older Porsche that didn't want anything to do with what the Vette driver had planned.
The Vette started off as the light turned green, and by the sound of his pipes, he was pressing the accelerator hard. The road was entirely clear ahead with no traffic entering from the adjacent lots. I didn't jump off the line like he did and remained a respectable distance away. I did put it to the floor in second, then third, and the Vette was somewhat surprised (I think) that I didn't fall far behind like he had anticipated. We didn't hit triple digits but close. I must admit we are not talking Z06 here, but a fairly new Vette is no slouch when it comes to good acceleration.
I like the pick up these Limited Crossfires have even if they are only 215 hp. The acceleration is more than adequate and somewhat surprising. After driving mine for a thousand miles, I can't help but wonder how quick the SRT6's must be. What a great car!

I purhased my 2005 sapphire silver blue metallic roadster because of the looks of it. Speed means nothing to me. I love the lines and the beauty of the Crossfire. One very special car. Patty
Does anyone know the exact power to weight ratio on a base roadster or coupe? This would give us a better comparison to cars like the 'vette that have 400 HP or more. The 'vette is heavy for a sports car.
I recall seeing the weight of a roadster once, but can't recall the number.

I had a similar situation last summer. A newer vette was right in front of me as we were going through a construction zone on the expressway. We were both following the 35 MPH limit until the construction zone ended. As soon as he cleared the sign that said "construction ends", you could hear him getting on it. I had no choice but to follow suit, stayed right on his bumper for the most part. I was close enough to see him staring in his rearview mirror at me......he didn't look happy. We got 'em up to around 120, then backed off. I got beside him and gave the guy a nod......I was surprised that he nodded back with a grin!
We drove together for another 70 miles or so......all the while having a little fun when some ricer tried to challenge us. It's always gotta be a ricer for some reason?
Last Saturday I was stopped and asked by passers by no less than 5 times asking me "what kind of car is that? or how cool it looked. I can tell ya that has never happened with any other vehicle I've owned. The more I drive 'em the more I love 'em.

If we can ever get together I will let you try mine. You will be surprised.

Thanks for clearing it up, sounds like a fun ride...Popeye
Crossfire SRT-6 is supercharged from the factory. Very few made in Coupe or Roadster. Manufactured in 05 with a few in 06. You can spot one with the fixed wing on the rear from a distance. Very quick. search any source to see e-bay or auto-trader. Search the forum a lot of them here
