Has anyone had this issue???
There is a small crease being caused by something rubbing when I drop and raise my top. I can’t seem to find the source.

My apologies if this has previously been discussed as I tried searching but with no luck.
Thanks,

Is that front to back in the middle?
If so, stop the "up" or Down" deployment and inspect the underneath surface of the boot lid. It looks as though there might be some type of foreign material stuck there.
Or it might be some grit in the bottom of the storage through where the top lays. You can easily see this area when it is in the "Goal Post" position.
Other than that, I don't have a clue.
Not an uncommon problem for me.

I've noticed minor creasing on the sides at the top that are not as noticeable as that - it looks much more like wear from rubbing on something...obviously you know that - you can stop the top when the tonneau is all the way up and then look and see where this might be - please let us know and thanks -
I have exactly the same issue in the same spot. Your photo looks as if you took a picture of my car. No idea what is causing it but I am worried it will eventually tear through. I originally thought a tree branch might have scraped it as I backed out of the driveway ( lots of low hanging trees), but now that you have the same issue, it must be internal to the mechanisim. Let me know if you figure it out!
After I wrote prior, I looked, and I do see a light mark - identical but it's very light - probably w/some double sided tape and a 'target' of some kind we can trace it to the surface that's rubbing or sitting in that area...I'll see if I can figure something out - I have an '07
I have the same mark on my top as well from about 2 years ago but I always thought it was from the next door nieghbors cat. I have looked at my top going up and down and I don't see anything that even comes close to touching or scraping it. The top folds in on itself on the area in question. I really don't know what has caused it.
Hi, I just posted this morning about the same thing and my top is idential to yours. Did you ever find out what caused this. I had mine to the dealship one month before my warranty was up and they denied a new roof because they said it was a scuff mark and that I had to have draged something over it or a tree lim or something hit it. Knowing that this was not the case I have been searching for an answer. I have tried lowering the top at all different times but just can seem to find anything.
My old top had the same problem (good my window collapsed and my insurance bought me a spanking new top), but again, my old top had that line and could never figure out what it was. It's not you or a cat, or something random. It gets worse as you make the top go up and down. I had it for about 2 years and slightly kept getting bigger, but didn't appear to rip. But the cause? It spooked me. Could be the fabric sucking in that area.
Hello,
I have an 06 and I TOO have this issue. One month left of the warrenty. I thought it may have been damage done by first owner. I wonder, do you think these posts will help us get the topcovered under warrenty?
This obviously is not a scuff or external scrape. It is from opening and closing the the top.

Well, my 05 has only 16,000 miles on it. But since I bought it in July of this year, I THINK only twice has the car left the garage where I DIDN'T lower and raise the top during the ride at least once.
No marks on my top, 'cept for the wrinkles at the sides - but they come out if I leave the top up during the week - which I do. Takes about 3 days for them to go away.
Seems like you could stand outside the car and lower the top in stages and find where something is rubbing. Anyone tried that - watch it from the outside of the car (use a, oh, broom stick or cane or walking stick to push the button and watch it fold up from the outside.
Gotta be a way to figure out what's going on!!!!

This thread is over a year old.
One of my pet peeves is when someone starts a thread with a problem, people reply with recommendations and the OP never responds without even a "thanks".
It appears Scotty has been beamed up as his last post was to sell his roadster.

Didn't even look at the date of the OP - just noticed that someone replied.
So bored here... am down with a cold, haven't been out of the house in 30 hours now.
Even resorted to a Calculus tutorial site to avoid boredom - wanna talk about limits and derivatives?

i believe it is the tops fabric folding in on its self when the top is lowered. just like the marks on the side of the top and imho is not a cause for concern. no one has yet posted about the fabric actully ripping or coming apart. until someone does, again it is not a cause for concern. the longer you leave the top folded down in that position the more the crease will become visible. just as they are on the sides.

The fabric is being cut, granted it is light, not deep. It does look like a crease left from a fold when you see the pictures..live you can feel and see the damage to the fabric. It is being scraped as it is being closed and opened..Maybe a rubber gromment in the storage area for the top has fallen away.

The topic may be a year old, but it is still pertainent. I checked my top and have the exact same chaffing or scrapping in the exact same area. When I get my daughter's roadster back from the dealer, I will check hers/
I also have the same thing. In the middle of the roof, rear quarter, near the rear window.
I tried uploading a pic but I am obviously doing something wrong.Doesn't seem to work.
Putting the car away next month a will have the stealer look at it at the same time that he does the reg. maintenance before storage.

Hi, i have an 04 roadster and have noticed this crease appearing.
I lowered the top to see if there was any obvious reason for the marking but have come to the conclusion it is simply the way the material creases/folds as the roof lowers.
Maybe going to try some tape across the area to make it crease across the roof instead of front to back.
Also going to refurb the fabric with waterproofing/conditioner, this may make the fabric crease in a better way.

I have the exact same problem on my Crossfire and it is definitely the fabric folding in on itself. I had also thought it was rubbing. However, when I slowly lowered the roof, I saw the fabric fold in on that exact crease. Nothing was even close to touching it.
as long as it keeps the rain off, I don't care. I try to hide the top most of the time.....and when its up, its not a good time to drive it...seriously, didn't notice this, just the side wrinkles...
