Re: Poll: Do you drive a roadster with a stick? Vote here!
This car was meant to be a roadster. I wouldn't have it any other way!
I really like the autostick, and drive it like a manual most of the time, the only thing is I will downshift to 1st, but when accellerating I start in 2nd, and the Auto do the work between 1 and 2, and just shift to 3, after that I usually just go to Drive unless going down in gears to slow down.
My father taught me to use the L1 and L2 to downshift (back in the 60's)to save weare and tear on the breaks, and I regularly make brake pads go 50,000 miles. As long as you keep the transmissions serviced, you are good

50,000 miles out of a set of brake pads is impressive.

Count us in.
Didn't buy an SRT-6 because having a stick was the only option for us. Just my opinion, but sports cars, muscle cars and trucks should all have manual transmissions - no exceptions. Leave the automatics for mini vans and luxury cars.

I wanted a convertible but would have been very happy with the coupe.
I wanted SSB, but would have settled for any color.
But,
There was no option on the tranny, must be manual.
Scottw60. I agree on your brake theory. My '75 Starfire got 190M miles out of the original brakes but went through three clutches. My '95 dodge one ton is just on it's second set of brakes at 210M miles. I am replacing the clutch at about 240 (next month maybe). My wifes minivan, with Autostick, is on her third set of shoes at 140M miles.
I'm not sure what the savings are and don't care. It is just more fun to control the vehicle speed with the engine. Two exceptions, My 1969 Cuda with a "Quick Shift" kit in the Torque-Flite tranny and the SRT autostick, which is a blast and very intuitive.
That said, I still prefer the manual and like many here have reluctantly chosen it over HP.
And I am
roadster with a stick
BTW Mrphotoman, what about the coupes with a stick? I'm sure they have fun too but nobody signs off "Coupe with a stick"

my first camaro, '69 Z-28 obviously a 4-speed close ratio STICK...my second camaro, big block 396, with a B&M Auto, 3500 Stall, and I have been back and forth for years...auto are cool if you drive them rt...sticks are better when playing in the curves and such...but I have had some pretty bad auto in my day...but never, never would you DOWN shift an auto, unless you wanted to walk...sooner or later, converter goes....but today, maybe puters keep this from happening, but I'm not risking it.....
