Got rear ended by an 18 wheeler in traffic
Okay... talk about bad luck. About 2 hours ago I was stuck in Houston traffic. We weren't moving since traffic was a stand still. I was about 6 feet from the car in front of me. Suddenly, I felt a big jolt and the car lurched forward. Snapping my head against the head rest. I was thinking what the F*&% . Then another jolt and the car lurched forward again. then I felt the car was being pushed forward. I looked at the rear view mirror and all I saw was a giant grill from an International Tractor trailer.
Its one of those older ones with he really long and tall engine hood so he doesn't even know that he was hitting me. I honked the horn, along with cars on the lanes beside me and he finally realized what was happening.
Got out, looked at the damage. Surprisingly, you could not tell much damage from looking at the rear of the crossfire. I guess the slow speed and me being in Neutral allowed the car to lurch forward and take off some of the load on the bumper. From a first quick visual inspection, you can see that there are scratches on the bumper, the two tail lights broke at the corners where they meet the bumper. The bumper is pushed in a little bit.
What a way to start the day... I had just washed and waxed the car last night too as the wife and I had plans for her Birthday tomorrow..
Oh well...

Did the truck driver have anything to say for himself? Like "duh I left my brain and eyes at home this morning". He was in the wrong, he was so close to another vehicle that he could no longer see it, what if it had been a Smart car? It would of gone under the rig, no one would have found it until the next time the truck was serviced!
Yeah.. all he said was that my car was so small he couldn't see me. What really pissed me off was him saying it was really light and he doesn't see any damage. I had to restraint my self from from getting into a physical confrontation after hearing that. Some people are idiots.. what can I say..

Best of luck!
Sad news from Houston. Get that baby fixed and back on the road soon. I'm glad you didn't get hurt and the damage was minimal.
Make sure you follow-up with the guys insurance company, hopefully you got a police report...and as a cop and a trucker...he had his head up his @ss to be that close to you...make him pay...or I should say make his company pay....
