Ok, I thought you meant your vin was 28000 something. Yours is #49208 of the 70000 or so made. I don't know if we have any official year-by-year production info on here.

Assuming wiki is right, so are you.

so mine has a production date of 11/04 does that mean it is part of the 04 production numbers, or the 05?

.
Post the last 8 digits of your VIN. 4X is a 2004, 5X is a 2005.

your last 8 digits are 4X049208 the number before the X is the model year the number after the X is a sequential number that started from 000001 as they came off the assembly line. There is no significance to 049208 other than it is the 49,208th xfire that came from the assembly line. The xfires came down the assembly line in random order of color, trim (base, limited, srt), body style (coupe, roadster), transmission (manual, automatic), etc.
The other numbers and alphabet that is part of your vin is what tells you body style (coupe or roadster), trim, etc. Look at the chart 8 posts above by Zeracer as to how to decipher the vin code.

Your vehicles vin does not lie, look at the 10th position for your answer. Your build date of 11/04 would indicate a 2005 model.

Did some looking around at various VINS, and don't know if this has been posted before, but to add to the chart:

Position 6: 5 = Base and Spec. Edition, 6 = Limited, 7 = SRT6
Position 7: 5 = Roadster, 9 = Coupe
