'06 Roadster built in '05
My 06 Roadster has a build date of July 05. I have read numerous articles about Crossfires not really having an 06 model year. Is there anyone out there with a 06 Coupe or Roadster that actually has on 06 build date ?.. Although all my compliance labels reflect 2006, I am feeling like its really a 2005 ...

Things were fine until Chrysler realized that the 06 weren't selling in Europe, Asia or Autralia so they put them on a boat, loaded up some storage lots on the coasts and put the damm things up on Overstock dot com.
It was the first in many steps that dropped the price of our cars through the floor.
Mine is an 06 roadster but i don't have it here today so i can't get the build date just yet. I'll revise my post later tonite.

Build dates and model years do not have to correlate with each other. Its the exact reason why you can buy a 2009 model car in november or december of 2008. I think the law is that they are allowed to sell the next model year after the second month of the current year or something like that..

From what I understand chatting with some chaps down at the local dealership, Chrysler just couldn't give the things away upon introduction in '04. Whoa. They more or less just re-VIN'ed 'em as needed over the years as the cars were slowly unloaded. Hard to say what year your baby was really born 'cause re-issuing the VIN paperwork suggests a new birth and a new birth date. Shame, for such a nice little car to go unappreciated as it did.
I also hear Chrysler, as part of their so-called restructuring plan released on 02/17, and only if they get another bazillion dollar bailout dole from Barry, will include a 2011 model year xfire with a retractable hardtop. Sweet. Hope they're not just more recycled '04 carcasses, tho. At least GM is likely to dump Pontiac/Saturn along with that silly Solstice/Skye. More things to gripe about there than the dang cup-holder....

This is really a non issue. Most were built in 2005 & 2006. The key factor is when the car was put into service to start the warranty. Most of the battery problems can be attributed to them sitting for long periods. Dealers were allowed to put new batteries in when a NEW one was sold and charge to a special prep fund.
