Default My 2nd Invisible Crossfire

Well all,

I found myself sitting at a stop light on Wednesday morning headed to work. Just taking in the morning air, listening to the radio and basically waiting for the light to change. Out of nowhere, comes a young lady in a car traveling about 45MPH into my back...literally! The car held together surprisingly well...her car was totaled on the spot! The gorgeous young women got out of her car and immediately yelled.."I didn't even see you!" I don't get it...It's not like I was the only car at the light...!!!

Anyway, not sure if my car will be totaled at this time...but the damage is $8700 to repair. I'm simply waiting for insurance folks to finish the process and let me know.

I guess I am destined to purchase invisible XFires....as this is my second to be severely damaged while sitting at a red light...The last was my beautiful black SRT6.

More to follow in the next couple of weeks....

Sorry to hear about your bad luck SRT6LVR, but let me ask you one question. Was the accident any less painful because the offending driver was gorgeous?
The reason I ask is, a very long time ago, I got rearended by a cute High School girl when I was about 21. A couple years later I ran into her at a club where she introduced me to a 1/2 dozen of her soriety sisters as her first accident.
We went out a few times, and she REALLY made up for damaging my car.

Brian-Brave had a "babe" nail his car as well.

There are much easier ways to get numbers, guys...

J/P man hope everything works out well for ya.

That's very true, but why waste an opportunity.

No less pain for me....I'm glad we were both reasonable adults that morning though. The last lady that hit the SRT6 was clearly wrong, but wanted to blame me for the accident when I wasn't even moving! Thanks!

Sorry to hear that! Glad that you are ok. It does seem that people don't see our vehicles at times. I have to drive very defensively it seems. I had two close calls in the past week with people pulling out in front me or just turning left right in front of me. I'm glad the XF has great brakes and a "real" horn sound.

Don't feel bad it happened to me too!
Shortly after I joined this forum I was viewing pictures one of the members post which showed front end crashes that this car was able to take and how the passenger cab held up so there were no injuries. Little did I know that I would be finding out how the rear of this car collapses and protects the passenger cab from the rear. I was sitting on the on ramp waiting to merge into traffic when a car rear ended me about 50mph at the least, knocking me out into traffic. I was at a dead stand still with my foot on the brake. Did I mention this was my "04" limited.

Well this car was totaled by my insurance company and gave me enough to search for a new car. Thus was born my new baby girl Black "05" SRT6 roadster!!!

I drive my Crossfire like I ride my motorcycle, lights on at all times - my bike, high beams at all times during the day. As I was told by my bike instructor, "This will save your life." Always assume you're invisible to others. Never thought I'd have to apply it to a car, but I had an Xterra previously. Face it, we're fast but small. Stay safe. Good luck with the insurance company.

Sorry to hear, as long as you're OK there are plenty of Crossfires out there you can pick up.

I'm going to have to see about installing a rear foglight and have in on all the time. My brother was just telling me yesterday I shouldn't drive it at night because people won't see me....then your story...

Sorry to hear about this and glad you are ok....hopefully you can find another you will be just as happy with; just don't use the cloaking device.

Invisible no doubt, and to think it happened twice. Glad to hear you are ok. Good luck with the insurance company and maybe you need one of those red flags on a 3 foot pole the kids put on their bikes.

Sorry to hear about your accident.
I can say that one of the best things I have done (for safety) was to add a third brake light flasher.
It really does get the attention of the drivers behind you.
Very cheap insurance. I know it is working because most drivers seem to stop much further back than they used to - do not know why they add distance but hey it helps.
I bought an adjustable one off of ebay - you can set the number of flashes and the flash duration. Easy install.

Can you show pics of this? Sounds like a good idea.

Sorry to hear of the crunched car. Hopefully you'll be alright in the next few days.

Cars can be replaced.....aches and pains are forever.

Sidenote: Why does it seem every time the season's change there's a rash of wrecked Crossfires?

Sorry to hear about the Cross, but of course am glad you're ok. But I'd be surprised if the Cross will be totaled. Unless they can get a good salvage value out of it. For the fronts, and the doors etc. Your value is about 15 I'd guess, at unfortunately current prices, but you still have another 6 to go for salvage, so my bet is that it'll be fixed. The flashing 3rd brake light is a great idea, and one that most should invest in. I'm going to start looking for one.

Good idea. Was this an additional light or a flasher added to the existing third light?

The flasher works on the existing light.

I have this ONE - but the sam seller has several versions. I just like the adjustable.

Will see if I can figure how to post a clip of it working.
