What the hell? A kill I guess
What the hell? A kill I guess
While on my way home tonight top down enjoying the beautiful weather a red mustang gt slowed to match my speed and proceed to call me out. Now I know the Na is suppose to be so weak it can't pull the covers off a dead man but my pride jumped up tapped me on the shoulder and said do it! We were rolling at 30 miles per hour when he did that 3 horn beep, auto shifted Natalie to 2ND and just stood in her waiting for the mustang to blow by. Never happened, busted 100 and left him 4 cars behind. So I'm thinking He must have missed a gear, slowed down he came up call me out again minus the sneer this time and at 30 we punched it again lot of noise from the stang tire smoke but I left him again! I stopped at the 7-11 and he and another mustang turn around and pulled in also. Now this car was not stock and I know something must have not been working right but the smile on my face when he ask me what the hell I had done to that girls car will stay with me for a couple days. Also his friend said it's a girls car that beat you and he's old. I asked the year of his mustang and he said it was a 2004 mustang gt five speed. Have no idea how I beat him not once but twice, but the sour look on his face from losing to a girls car was just priceless!

Reminds me of when a local kid with a loud, ugly 4 door Nova came by bragging about all of the money and parts he put into his engine. One day I met up with him at the local AutoZone and I called him out.
No, not with my SRT, my 1999 CHEVY Metro with what I call a big block conversion. I put a 1.6 from a Suzuki Sidekick in to replace the anemic 1.3 that came with the car.
We line up on 7th Street and hit it. Metro pulls away and never looks back. Stop. Ok let's do it again, just in case he missed a gear "or something". We hit it again with the same results. I'm just glad he didn't have his girl with him to witness what happened to his "hot" car. Bet he never relayed that story to anyone!
Just cuz it's loud doesn't mean it's fast!

You should see how the Mustang GT boys react at the dragstrip when they get beat....... by a PT Cruiser!!!
By the way, I know my PT would beat my Crossfire in a 1/4 mile drag, but from a roll I'm sure the Crossfire is faster. In fact, a friend of mine has a heavily modded PT that is almost half a second faster in the 1/4 than my PT, but can't keep up with my Crossfire from a 30mph or faster roll.

I ran against 2 GT's in the Coupe, one an '04 like you had & the other an '03. Both times it couldn't have been a more even race; neither of us budged against one another; perfectly dead even. The '03 was off of a light & though he gained on me initially I was door-to-door with him by 40mph. The '04 & I took off from around 35 or so & we never inched beyond each other.
In the SRT it wouldn't be a race............
The later model GT's are a little beefier & I'm afraid our Coupes would get whacked pretty easily.

There's all kinds of cars the NA Crossfire can walk all over...especially if you're in the right gear & get a fair start....look at that '73 454....#s are virtually identical to the 6 spd NA Crossfire....I know it's a hell of a lot quicker & faster than that '78 L48 Corvette I had!!! Plus I get about 25 mpg & the 78 got 16mpg.
