Default What the hell? A kill I guess

While on my way home tonight top down enjoying the beautiful weather a red mustang gt slowed to match my speed and proceed to call me out. Now I know the Na is suppose to be so weak it can't pull the covers off a dead man but my pride jumped up tapped me on the shoulder and said do it! We were rolling at 30 miles per hour when he did that 3 horn beep, auto shifted Natalie to 2ND and just stood in her waiting for the mustang to blow by. Never happened, busted 100 and left him 4 cars behind. So I'm thinking He must have missed a gear, slowed down he came up call me out again minus the sneer this time and at 30 we punched it again lot of noise from the stang tire smoke but I left him again! I stopped at the 7-11 and he and another mustang turn around and pulled in also. Now this car was not stock and I know something must have not been working right but the smile on my face when he ask me what the hell I had done to that girls car will stay with me for a couple days. Also his friend said it's a girls car that beat you and he's old. I asked the year of his mustang and he said it was a 2004 mustang gt five speed. Have no idea how I beat him not once but twice, but the sour look on his face from losing to a girls car was just priceless!

Reminds me of when a local kid with a loud, ugly 4 door Nova came by bragging about all of the money and parts he put into his engine. One day I met up with him at the local AutoZone and I called him out.
No, not with my SRT, my 1999 CHEVY Metro with what I call a big block conversion. I put a 1.6 from a Suzuki Sidekick in to replace the anemic 1.3 that came with the car.
We line up on 7th Street and hit it. Metro pulls away and never looks back. Stop. Ok let's do it again, just in case he missed a gear "or something". We hit it again with the same results. I'm just glad he didn't have his girl with him to witness what happened to his "hot" car. Bet he never relayed that story to anyone!

Just cuz it's loud doesn't mean it's fast!

You should see how the Mustang GT boys react at the dragstrip when they get beat....... by a PT Cruiser!!!

By the way, I know my PT would beat my Crossfire in a 1/4 mile drag, but from a roll I'm sure the Crossfire is faster. In fact, a friend of mine has a heavily modded PT that is almost half a second faster in the 1/4 than my PT, but can't keep up with my Crossfire from a 30mph or faster roll.

The trouble is, at 14.6 sec for an automatic V6 Camaro, they can hammer us too. But at least those nasty 4 dr.Camrys will get em.

I ran against 2 GT's in the Coupe, one an '04 like you had & the other an '03. Both times it couldn't have been a more even race; neither of us budged against one another; perfectly dead even. The '03 was off of a light & though he gained on me initially I was door-to-door with him by 40mph. The '04 & I took off from around 35 or so & we never inched beyond each other.
In the SRT it wouldn't be a race............
The later model GT's are a little beefier & I'm afraid our Coupes would get whacked pretty easily.

Not really "hammer", more like a dead heat.

The big difference is we don't strut around thinking we're the baddest thing on 4 wheels.

Not bad! What does the '04 GT have for power, 260? Plus the Crossfire is lighter which makes a big difference.

There's all kinds of cars the NA Crossfire can walk all over...especially if you're in the right gear & get a fair start....look at that '73 454....#s are virtually identical to the 6 spd NA Crossfire....I know it's a hell of a lot quicker & faster than that '78 L48 Corvette I had!!! Plus I get about 25 mpg & the 78 got 16mpg.

1968 Chevrolet Corvette 327 7.7 15.6
1968 Chevrolet Corvette 427 6.3 14.1
1970 Chevrolet Corvette 427 6.1 14.3
1973 Corvette 350ci L82 6.7 15.1 (C&D Dec '72)
1973 Corvette 454ci 6.4 14.6 (C&D Dec '72)
1975 Chevrolet Corvette 350 9.6 16.4
1976 Chevrolet Corvette 350 8.1 16.5
1977 Chevrolet Corvette 8.8 16.6
1979 Chevrolet Corvette L82 7.3 15.7
1980 Chevrolet Corvette L82 7.4 15.4
1982 Chevrolet Corvette 9.2 16.6
1984 Chevrolet Corvette 6.7 15.1
1985 Chevrolet Corvette 5.7 14.1
1986 Chevrolet Corvette 5.8 14.4
1986 Chevrolet Corvette Convertible 6.0 14.5
1988 Chevrolet Corvette Convertible 6.0 14.6

I ran into the same jackass in the piece of junk nova about a month ago while doing the stop and go thing on highway 92 headed south. You know how sometimes you get the feeling you're being stared at? I was sitting at a red light and looked over to see two punks staring over in my direction. When I made eye contact with the driver he revved his engine twice. Being the mature and responsible driver I am, I ignored his challenge and proceeded to accelerate at a normal pace when the light changed. Somehow I caught up with him at the next light. Same thing again, only this time he was really revving his engine, so I just had to screw with this guy. This time I launched a little hard, by no means was it a full throttle launch. Easily beat him to the next light. Now I could tell he was getting pissed. Light turns green, I floor it. I really thought his engine was going to grenade as I passed him, I think he was going for broke! By now he was so far behind me that I slowed down to 55 from 65 or so. By now I was heading up "the hill" toward Carr Canyon Rd and he pulls up beside me and just hangs there going the same speed as we approach the "bottleneck" where the road narrows to two lanes from four. He is in the merge lane but expects me to yield to him- ain't happening. I just get on the gas and blow him away again, going uphill. Oh yeah, I should mention that I was driving my 10 year old Jeep Grand Cherokee 4x4, 4.0l six cylinder with 156,000 miles on it!

Which is basically American Motors old 6 cylinder engine design by the way. (Chrysler just updated it a little).
