What Maintenance issues have you had with your xfire?
I have owned my lovely xfire for a little less than a year now and have had the following maintenance issues. I wanted to find out what others have had with their cars and what we may be able to anticipate in the future...
Now don’t get me wrong. I love my ride and enjoy even some of its little shortcomings but thought that I would share my list and hear others. Fortunately for me she is still under warranty and all repairs below were covered!
Here is the list:
- Steering wheel replaced (leather peeling)
- Top windshield strip replaced (silver portion)
- Door and edge plates where the retractable roof weather strip runs water down the door edge. There are two pieces per side one on the car and the other at the top inside portion of the door. They began to rust
- Valve cover gaskets replaced
- Steering stabilizer replaced (that thing was over $600 and covered under warranty)
BTW - my car only has 19k now and before changing the steering stabilizer the car would get pulled all over the road! They said that mine was leaking. Kind of surprised that these parts are only $40 on Amazon (dealer $615), and it looks as if they go pretty frequently.
Thanks
Nate

After talking to a few people at Carlisle, I officially think I have the worst luck with my maintenance. Both driver and pass seat heaters broke, tranny o-ring leak, replaced steering column, replaced radio, deal broke cup holder (refused to fix), dealer scratched my leather seat (fixed), fog light lens came off (replaced)

Items serviced under warranty:
- driver's side valve cover leaking
- hard starting when warm - replaced fuel pump
- driver's seat heater not working
Items I repaired:
- replaced steering stabilizer - $30 for parts and shipping
- headlights started to fog - used $20 3M kit to sand and polish
Other than these minor things, it's been the most reliable car I've had.

I've been driving our '05 roadster for about three months now. I've had the O-ring on the transmission replaced under warranty (it's where a wiring harness connects) and it's going in this week for a leak on the driver's side valve cover (warranty as well).
The headlights were only a bit pitted, so 2 goes with PlastX were good enough to make them clear for me.
The Driver's Side chrome handle is peeling at the back and feels quite sharp. That'll probably be a repair I pay for, or get some good tape to cover it.
I'll be doing the steering stabilizer within a month.
Everything else is strong and feels fine.

2005 SRT6 w/14k miles - cooling fan under warranty, supercharger intercooler and sensor under warranty. Currently have problem with possible blown gasket - going to an indie shop this month for repair since it is out of warranty.
2007 Coupe w/12k miles - no problems.

We have a 2007 Roadster with 2,700 miles and NOTHING!!!!!!! And she's a pure joy to drive... But, after watching the top retract and extend, we added a lifetime warranty!
Under warranty I had the windshield trim replaced due to oxidation and was going to have the chip guard tape but they decided to heat gun it it get the wrinkle out; as that didn't work, they just replaced the tape today and called in a contractor to do it because the last time the body shop guy was too afraid.
Well, the top wouldn't go down after they worked on it and we managed to get it down due to a sensor problem....good thing, because their sub had left all kinds of surface scratches as well as dirt under the tape. Now the service manager is personally taking care of it and will make sure it is done right.

Is the chip guard the rear tape where the bottom of the top rests?
I hope they got it right for you.
It is tough to find a good tech at the dealers nowdays given the fact that our cars are getting more rare on the streets.

Yes, the half circle black strip. The answer is no, they didn't get it right, they have to order the part and then they'll have to make the paint right then put it on. Not only the technicians, but as the one parts guy told me when I asked them about sponsoring our CrossFires Across America next year, he told me the marketing guy was never so happy as when the last one pulled off the lot.
Not to change the subject too much, but considering they never really marketed the car in the first place, just how much work did he really have?
I'll update when the car is done...if i remember.

This is the Chrysler "additional" bumper to bumper, life time warranty.
