You have been misinformed. There is no "CUP HOLDER" on the Crossfire.

There is an elbow bruising device of devilish origin. It doesn't hold a cup!

You are lucky. Mine opens all the time between 3rd and fourth gear shifts. Damm hard on the elbow.

Most worhtless apparatus on the Crossfire.

Despite the pain in imposes on my right arm I have found it actually has a more sinister purpose. It puts holes in your cup, especially if it is filled with a sticky, sugary soft drink.

Ignore it if you can. Buy a $5.00 plastic two cup holder from Walmart that fits between the seat and the console.

I would be very interested in a mod sticker/plaque that would cover the unit up completely.

Kindly use the 'search' function, autumnmass, and you will find more than you need to know about the dang cupholder, or most any other topic for that matter.

Please feel free to make a habit of using the 'search' fucntion.

Hey autumnmass yer new here. WELCOME! Glad to see you checking in and finding out about your cool car! Hope to "see" more posts from you in the future.

So back to your cup holder problem.

Use a finger and with a bit of force, jab down at the top front of the cup holder. It should pop up!
If you just jab at it, it just stays down.

Did that work???

Get yourself a roll of duct tape (silvery) and a pair of scissors. Neatly cut a 4" length of duct tape. Apply over cup-holder. Problem solved. A smaller piece also works on that pesky TPM icon that never goes out, but I recommend black electrical tape for this fix.

Just in case you need a new one. I saw this in a previous post. Someone on ebay is selling the entire unit.

Funny, I often use mine. I have a "Nissan Stainless" metal thermo-cup and it fits fine... bit of technique to get the forward "flappers" to open to hold the cup but, it does work (you should try some of the cup holders in our military aircraft...)! As Tighed1 said, firm jab on the forward edge of the cup holder and she will pop right open.

On the Coupe it pops up for no particular reason whenever it feels like it. The SRT holds a refreshing beverage like it's been superglued to the console; go figure.
As to getting it open, have you tried a gun, dynamite, crowbar, Vaseline & shoehorn, pick axe, soothing words, epoxy on your fingertips (must hold fingertip on cupholder at least 4 hours minimum), WD-40, hammer-drill, circular saw, plastic explosive or, when all else fails, a small nuclear device (search old copies of Popular Mechanics for tips & hints)?
Oh, & the Search feature can be a wonderful thing!

mine is a bit pesky as well. sometimes i have to quickly 'poke' the front part several times before it will open. though i would never use it with styrofoam cups, a can of beer fits perfectly. gotta love those germans and their beer.

It works. That's bout all you can say about it. Puts creases in the pop can when it's halfway empty.

It will hold a live grenade, and barely do any damage to the grenade.
