Default Power Antenna

Do you handy guys think this should be fairly easy to install?

That big universal bezel that protrudes above the fender is going to be butt ugly. It has to be big to accommodate different fender angles. I bought one years ago that looked exactly like this and paid $19.00 bucks but I never used it for the reasons I mentioned.

Oh yeah, it going to take some big huevos to power that 1" hole saw through your rear fender if you've never done it before.

You might try an antenna booster from Radio 1st before whacking up your car.

I don't recall a car built in the last 10 years that still use power antennas, so they are definitely falling from favor.

There, that's my 2 cents.

The universal bezel will be pretty ugly. Thats kind of the problem with products that are "universal"; They have to fit everything, but not fit everything well. I remember when the current model Jag XK came out and received so much crap from automotive editors about it's " ancient, clunky" electric antenna. That has since been replaced by an integrated antenna. The only current vehicle I can even think of that still has an electric antenna is the Lexus SC430.

Thanks! I didn't know there were any cars with power antenna still being sold, but geez the SC430 first hit the showrooms in 2001, so it's pretty darn old as cars go.

Yeah, its gettin up there in age for sure. Seems so insignifigant, but I was always shocked that Lexus never updated the antenna assembly to a model that is integrated into the glass. For some reason it makes the whole car seem older than it is. FP has one of the cleanest Roadsters and I think an electric antenna will detract from and date the vehicle. Just my 2 cents

It was just curiosity. Not doing it. I would not drill wholes in my car. I don't know why they decided to put an external antenna on the roadster. I agree; it's outdated. At the same time, don't like the antenna sticking out all the time.

Trade it in for a coupe and the fender-mounted antenna problem goes away.

I think almost all current convertibles have some sort of external AM/FM antenna. Can't put one in the rear glass because when the top drops so would your antenna. Some cars do use smaller ones than the Crossfire Roadster though.
