Ok, I give up
I wish I could imbed the verse from Annie Lennox’s song “I need a man”. It seems so appropriate for me right now. On the weekend, I washed my Crossfire thoroughly in preparation for the winter storage. I changed my insurance coverage effective yesterday. I blocked the exhaust and plan to add the battery tender soon. When I put the car in the garage, I noticed the “check engine“ light was on. This has happened once before when water got in where it does not belong. The problem was resolved after a day in the sun so I backed it out and left it in the driveway.
Yesterday, while driving my Jeep home, listening to, coincidently, the Eurythmics, between cuts when there was a lull in the loud music; I heard my exhaust pipe dragging. That explains the glare of the police man I drove by - I was not speeding.
Life was so much easier when I lived with a man who could not cook so he was happy to take care of the cars. Maybe I should start trolling for a husband. I am a modern woman, often called a feminist and quite capable of taking care of myself but some days…it's difficult.
So I reinstated full coverage on my Crossfire and the damn “check engine” light is still on. No "Auto Zone" in town...

That was the whole point - I have no time to get the Jeep to the muffler shop. And I would never trust those bozos to touch one of my vehicles. I have a really good mechanic but he is on the outskirts of the city and when I have time, I will get the Jeep to him. Meanwhile, it is was 18 degrees Celsius here yesterday so putting the Crossfire away may have been premature.
Accountants are not my type....no matter how badly I might need one...

Yes I need McGiver... Agreed there should be barter sites for this sort of thing - I can configure computers and set-up the most complex home theatre system (latent geek tendencies) but I panic if something goes wrong with the car.
wow, well, I would just unhook the battery since you are putting on a battery tender anyway, and see if that clears the code first...as for the jeep, a welder...good luck...another man just willing to help...
Is this a post about CEL codes or SWM wanted? LOL. I'm sure you can find a male friend, with or w/o benefits, who can help you with your car problems for a 6-pack of Alexander Keith's. Just don't give him the beer until the work is done. And when the tailpipe broke on my Audi while I was going over the Bluewater Bridge, I found a very helpful Canadian Tire store that wired it in place until I could get to a muffler shop who welded it back on.
Or you could just do it yourself ....
I have my BF because I want him not because I need him to do things for me.....

After all, it doesn't matter how much you enjoy the acts of kindness; if the giver begrudges them but masks them with a "yes dear", it'll only last so long.
Hence why I'm holding out for my Proverbs 31 woman, and trusting God that she'll be delivered in His timing.
And Kim I agree 100%, self-sufficiency is a beautiful thing.
thanks guys and gals....
I do not lack for male attention, thanks anyway. However, due to a nasty expereince with the last SIG, I am keeping a low profile on the dating scene. I like fast cars and fast men and it will be awhile before I trust my choices again. Refer to older posts - the ex is in Arizona with a hot Beemer (and I am sure a hot red-head too)
I appreciate the CarQuest lead! Who needs a part-time guy - when I have the great people on this forum.
You people always make me laugh and provide super information.

Just become a Cougar and make sure you take care of the cubs the right way and they will run the car to the shop for you...
Either that or get your equivalent to triple A and have them tow the jeep and then worry about picking it up on the weekend.

I've seen a few mufflers held up with wire hangers - hopefully, a temporary fix only!
As for finding the right guy, make a list! Then stick to it. They're out there. Just be sure he respects your Crossfire.

News Flash - "check engine" light is off! I guess it just took longer to dry out this time.
Erzer - thanks for the tip about becoming a cougar but I work at a college and I think I might loose my job if I were to start recruiting the young ones...
I have to say, I am surprised to see the quick response from men who want to help whenever I raise the hood on my Crossfire.
For the sake of my ego, I prefer to think it is the high heels and legs but reality is, it is more likely they really want to get a peek under the hood.
thanks
