If you are brave enough open the RCM and close the contacts on the relay marked "E" on the right in this photo.
The air pump should turn on. I noticed that the contacts on this particular relay in one of my RCMs is burnt pretty good. I sometimes get fault code PO445 (or is it 405, 455, 505?) If I recall correctly you don't even have to have the key in or on to do this.
If the pump operates I'd say it's good. If not I'd look the RCM over.
Re: Air Pump
I do recall the day that the check engine light went off, I turned off the ignition and the pump did keep on going, eventually it did shut off and then the check engine light went on that night
I had no idea that it would be that much $ to repair

Re: Air Pump
I have had an air pump go bad in my wifes SSB. I thought I would be able to get one from someone on the forum who was piecing out but so far no takers. The dealership will sell me a new one for 125.00. I was really suprised the cost was that reasonable. I will be replacing hers when the weather warms up. If you find a deal better than the dealership price, shoot me a PM.
