Default New Owner - Why CCCI?

People have emailed me that I should join the pay-per-view group CCCI, for one thing so I would have the privilege of buying accessories. This may be a weird question for the group, but what has CCCI got that this group (a pretty awesome one at that) doesn't?

Tbird explained this best in another thread so I will share his statement with you here...

One of the biggest benefits is that CICCI is run by a Board of Directors, not a single person, and all the members have a vote in how the site is run, managed and maintained.
Then there is the Club discounts from the Sponsors, like Adam's Polishes, Group buys on Crossfire items, The Club Store, with a lot of nice Crossfire stuff, etc.
They also maintain contact with Chrysler, Karmann, Eric Stoddard; the designer of the Crossfire, and help to support GTG's, Events and Crossfire Car Shows throughout the summer.
On top of that its the atmosphere, the people, and the camaraderie that we all have for this little Car.

Basically there is this forum, which is a free site, managed by a person and there is CICCI, managed by a group of Crossfire owners.
Both sites have a forum with a lot of great information, but CICCI is the Car Club for the Crossfire.
I believe that most everyone that is part of CICCI does post here from time to time.

I think the best thing for you to do is go to the car club site, and read the Mission statement and FAQS. Then you can decide.

CICCI is a Crossfire car club for Crossfire owner enthusiast much like Corvette, Viper, Mustang, etc. owners have their car clubs. I don't know why you refer it as a "pay-per-view group", but as Valk & FP have stated, I suggest you look into it and see if it's right for you. CICCI is a growing and strong organization. We welcome you should you decide you want to be part of the organization.

Nothing derogatory meant by that, just remarking to the fact. The CICCI web site requires a paid membership to participate in or even view the forum, hence "pay-per-view". Sounds like it has a lot to offer, I was just curious why a paid site might be better than this similar group of owner enthusiasts. Thanks for the input.

I'll get flamed for this but the only advantage of joining is you get to pay $35 for a membership and then you get to pay more for accessories that they offer. You'll still spend the majority of your time here.

ps I would have joined a long time ago if it wasn't for the aggressive sales tactics.

No flaming necessary. It's quite simple. CICCI is NOT a forum. It's a car club.It has a forum to discuss club activities, and communicate progress to it's members. It's not intended to compete with this site. Most CICCI members spend a ton of time at this forum, and we like it. In fact many of us sponsor this site as well. So, let's put the issue of "pay per view" to bed. That's not the case. We are a car club like many car clubs out there. This is not a new concept, nor are we pioneers at it.

You can join, or not. That is your choice.

I don't understand what he confusion seem to be. I pay dues at CICCI and I pay dues here, as many of us do.

It's your choice to join or not but if it wasnt for CICCI and its members you would not have been able to make your last comment. CICCI members repeatedily contacted this forum's "handler" to fix the recent problems so that all Crossfire owners would have a platform. Guess that's a really aggressive sales tactic.

P.S. You're welcome.

I would hope my fellow club members aren't blindly soliciting membership to run up the membership numbers. If you are, I would suggest you stop. You should only ask those you think share the same interest in belonging to a car club....share the same interests as you. A club isn't for just anyone, and many on here mention this all the time. If the first thing out of their mouth is..."It's costs money to join" then they probably aren't interested in joining a club. You should talk to someone you know personally, someone you would sponsor.....not just send out a blind email and hope they are interested....if this is the case, then I suggest it stop and will contact our BOD to see that it stops....

Maybe I overlooked it, and correct me if I am wrong.

When at this .org site, there is a complete forum section for and about CICCI. But when at CICCI, I see nothing in any title about this .org site?

One way street?

It isn't a one way street at all...this is a public forum....vs a club....I don't know why this is so difficult to understand....you are here free. A club costs you money to join, and like all clubs, there are club functions, gtg, etc....organized, club officers, BOD....and there is a list of all the things you get in return on the site....join if you are interested, if not, don't. It doesn't affect the free forum site in any way, shape or form....I am a member of both, as are many others...clubs aren't for everyone...and I respect that, but that isn't a one way street either...many CICCI members have been attacked here for no reason, other than asking people to join...soliciting...I am not for soliciting on this forum....I am for members to solicite those friends they might think are interested in a club environment.

im a member on the cicci site. in fact im the only slk32 memnber to date. i dont advertise it because i dont want to. i joined because ill take any option to get any and all info that i can for my car. after spending thousands on my car modding it it seemed like a small amount to spend.
its just 1 small way to give back to the sites that have given me so much.
im hoping that my membership may open the doors to other 32 owners should they want to join.
it was offered to me in a way i respected not a sales pitch.
just my .02

I totally agree. you should not be bombarded with e-mails to join. The President of the club normally sends new members here a welcome PM, and introduces the club to them. That should be the only invitation anyone should ever receive.
If others are sending more emails, maybe their enthusiasm is getting the best of them. I will make sure to post at the club's forum that this shouldn't happen.

I'm sorry but I'm confused by your statement. If I remember right it was moderators of this forum that contacted the owner. They also happen to be members of CICCI, but they're also mods here too. If you want to talk down to someone talk down to someone who hasn't been here since 06.

Thanks everyone for their comments to help a new guy learn more about this and the CICCI group. Rest assured I have NOT received any unsolicited emails pushing me toward CICCI. Before losing my Best of Show '93 Miata a couple of years ago I had some experience with paid clubs vs. free forums. I think at the moment this forum meets my needs quite nicely. I appreciate everyone's assistance. Hopefully I will learn enough to return the favor soon.

I consider myself an enthusiast (maybe even a Crossfire bigot) with three of the little babies, but I am not a "joiner". I find adequate information on this site and satisfy my need to GTG at Woodward and with the few local guys/gals here in southwest MI. If that changes I would have no problem paying for membership in the CICCI.

Every single time this comes up, the guys who are against CICCI say, 'We are fine with what we get for free' but they spend hours every single day on here and are the first to ***** when something does not work.

What they do not realize is that nothing is free. I think it is rather ironic that most of the guys with CICCI next to their names also have forum sponsor or forum super sponsor. It tells me we are willing to pay to play and to be part of a 'club'. When people spend hours and hours on this forum everyday and are too cheap to become a sponsor, it does not surprise me that they are not willing to go to the next level with CICCI, quite frankly, I am glad they do not.

And before I get any crap, I am not talking about the guy that logs on here once a month, I am talkiing about the guy who has saved hundreds, if not thousands exclusively because of this forum and is still unwilling to spend a small amount of money to support it.

Rant ended
