Default "Roadster with a Stick"

Ok, look, I love my car, but I want a Roadster with a stick.

Problem is, I want a LIMITED roadster with a stick. Seems like those are very rare.
Wandered CarMax lots past week or so. THey are offering me $14,000 for mine. (Limited, Auto, 27000 miles and let me tell you, mine is IMMACULATE, even under the HOOD! Cna't say that for any at CarMax. Some people, after only 38,000 miles, make it clear that they don't deserve one of these cars - and their cars end up at CarMax.)

So, I take it most Roadsters were either:

1) Limited with everything including Automatic
or
2) Base models with stick

Yea, I found ONE Limited Roadster with a stick, 06 with about 16K on it - dealer wants $19.9K.

I guess he'll get it, since there are no other ones out there. But not outta me. Sure makes me feel good when I read CarMax's offer they gave me: "Car is very well maintained, low miles, and in showroom condition."

I would be surprised if that dealer got more than $17K for that car. If that.
I bought my Roadster with a stick, '06 brand new for only a few thousand more.

Just be patient and wait for the right one.

It's not like your driving a Ford Focus right now..

Ask me how that's going.

Go ahead, ask....

Go to cars.com and you will find them...may have to travel a ways but they are out there. You can fine tune your search on the left nav bar once you get to all crossfires...good luck!

OMG! My car, that is, a limited red convertible with 22K on it is listed at $19,990! What world do THEY live in? THat's higher than CarMax.

(But, ok, so there ARE 6 speed limited Roadsters out there ...)

If Car Max ofered you 14K they figure they can get at least 16K - 17K for it or they wouldn,t buy it. They are in business to make a profit. They rely on people wanting quick cash that don't want to deal with the selling process. These cars have at least leveled off in depreciation, if not increasing in value as there are less and less clean, low milage examples out there. For the price there is nothing like them out there.

Yea, and I'm having second thoughts about selling mine. All I saw at CarMax are FILTHY under the hood, some with only 35,000 miles on them!

Maybe I'll just keep the Roadster and get a stick Coupe to go with it.

A few roadsters w/stick listed in the Philadelphia area. Check craigslist.com under pennsylvania/philadelphia/cars & trucks/ keyword crossfire.

One is an '07 w/6,000 miles & the dealer is asking just under $20,000

The more I read stuff like this the more I realize I got a screamin' deal on my car three years (and two days) ago. 32 miles on the clock, full warranty, NAV, 6 speed, loaded. Sure, it's a 2005 model year car that I bought new in 2007, but for $21,000?! No way I could pass that up.

And now I'd love to have a Limited Coupe with an automatic as a daily driver to go along with it. Those are easy to find though.

Pizzaguy, just keep looking and take your time. The right car will come along.

This looks like a great deal on an '08 automatic.

That's a lot better than a good deal! Must be flood damaged or wrecked and repaired! WOW!

Thanks, and I WILL take my time! I was close yesterday, found an 04 Graphite 6 speed with 90,000 on it with new front brakes, new front rotors, four new tires and new battery for $9990. Love the color and it drove very well. Someone was easy on THAT clutch!

But for that many miles, 10K still seemed a bit much for me. Course, you take the tires off and think, well, that would have meant he could have sold it to me for about $9000 but then I'd be putting tires on it.

Probably not a bad deal --- AND CLEAN, the underhood / engine looked damn near as good as mine! SOMEONE took care of it.

On the other hand...
A roadster with 38,000 on it I saw last night had oil all over the underengine cover, and all over the driver side of the eninge. Looked like they filled it too fast and it spilled all over .... and no one cared. The carpet in the trunk was dirty and they'd removed the factory mats and let the carpet get dirty! JEEEZZZ, some people don't deserve such a car. AND CAR MAX put the car on the lot like that!

Why in the world are you so concerned with DIRT?
If the car is in perfect mechanical condition, and is dirty, just wash the blasted thing.

I think you're way too picky about certain things in life.
You might need to relax your standards a bit.

Unwind, loosen the shirt collar, and enjoy life for a while.

Yeah, but there's a difference between a car that's simply dirty and one that has been neglected. All cars get dirty, but none should be neglected. I'm always concerned about a car that is badly neglected cosmetically - it's a whole lot easier to just run a car through a car wash once a month than to take it in for regular service. If an owner can't do the easy part I don't trust that they did the (only slightly) harder stuff.

As for the Oyster Gold coupe on Craigslist with an asking price of $9600 with only 5000 miles on it - run. It sounds like one of those scams we see too often. Call and ask if you can drive it. Wanna bet it's "not at the house right now because my uncle thought he had a buyer for it upstate" or some such nonsense? Of course, if you wire a deposit they'll deliver the car to you.

It wasn't DIRT, maybe I didn't make it clear, but there was OIL all over the side of the engine and the sheild under the engine! SOMEONE did not care/know what they were doing when simply changing the oil.

Ok, yea, that's right - the trunk and interior WERE bad! (Just remembered what I said.)

Done. It got me married and divorced inside of 5 months.

Actually, those around me will tell you... "He's already done that. We could tell, when he showed up in a XF, not a damn pickup!"

But we are getting off the topic... and I DID find a nice Base Roadster with a stick today. 05, 41,000 miles for $14,999 on a lot near ATL. So if someone here bought my Roadster, I could run right up there... course, haven't seen or driven it yet.... And I STILL wonder if I can sit in a Base Roadster and be happy - Little Red has me spoiled!!!

I'm confused, I did'nt know the Roadsters came in a "base" edition. All black, no silver trim, stick shift, with cloth seats, and the low end radio?

That is about the ONLY Roadster I have seen at CarMax.

Well, any Roadster with a STICK has been a base except one, out west.

That BASE RADIO really bugs me...

I did not think limited roadsters with a stick were that rare. i have a 2005 red roadster with a little over 22,000 miles that I an considereing selling since my wife is no longer able to drive. i have a Jeep GC as a my main means of transportation and living in New England my XF sits in the garage from mid November to April except for when the roads are clear. I plan on putting a 4 sale on it and see if there is any interest. I do not see many XF around here and wonder if it would draw any offers.

$20,000 ?????????????????????????????????????????? So how is my car (same year, etc. but with 16,000 more miles) not worth $17K? Ok fine, I can't offer 5 day money back and 30 day warranty.. .but still....

I have two people coming this weekend already to look at mine. If it sells, I'll be in touch!

But you'd have to meet me at the airport.... unless i rent a car.
