From the group's overall experience, what would be the best recommended warranty for my 2007 roadster?

Thanks, Joe

Many will state that an extended warranty is not necessary and a waste. Having just had the airbag light fixed at a cost of $2200 (under factory warranty)I chose to cover my investment with an extended warranty. Is it a crapshoot? Absolutely. But I rest much easier now knowing nothing that happens to this car will put me in the poorhouse.

My 07 bought in May had 1507 miles on her and is literally brand new. Got her for 17K. Even with the lifetime warranty I put on her i'm under 20K with a lifetime of coverage. Couldn't be happier.

Hey Joe ,,,,, How many miles on your SE? Depending on your mileage, and your in-service date (any Chrysler dealer can tell you this), you may be eligible for a Chrysler MaxCare Warranty. This is probably the best way to go. I bought one thru a local Chrysler dealer, that gives me bumper to bumper (with some exclusions .. read the contract) till 8/28/13 or 70000 miles. The "till" date depends on your in-service date plus 7 years. I paid $1800 for this, but there are some dealers that will do it on line for less. That's up to you. I figure that if I need any warranty service that I can't do, this cost will pay for itself many times over. If I don't use the warranty service in the period I was able to get it for, I'll sleep a lot better at nite, and I do!
Replacing any thing in the convert top operation (with its 20 plus sensors), or the seats that don't heat, or a problem in the engine or trans (including my supercharger and intercooler), or a suspension problem that's covered, sometimes breaks the budget bank. I'm sure that others will chime in about 3rd party coverage (not sold by Chrysler), and I'm sure it will be cheaper, and cover a longer period of time, but if you qualify for the Chrysler warranty that's the way to go. You can always buy a 3rd party warranty after your Chrysler one expires.

BTW ..... nice meeting you and your wife at Carlisle

Currently I'm rolling the dice, as I've heard the competence of Chrysler dealers is less than awesome. No issues other than a foglight cap falling off, and I've put 11,000 miles on my car in seven months

Having said that, I'd like to saddle up with a 3rd party provider before luck runs out.

I would recommend the exact opposite. Get a Chrysler MaxCare warranty and NOT a third party warranty. I've had two, both from reputable(at the time of purchase) that as soon as they get you money, good luck having them do anything. Parts for this car are EXPENSIVE when purchased directly through the dealer and third-party warranty companies will come up with ANY excuse they can to not have to honor their warranty when it comes time to pay out. Mine had no issue replacing my rear diff until they found out it was a $3300 part. Then things got ugly and the excuses started coming in.

I agree with Rudy, above. I have the Chrysler Max warranty, 7/70, and will expire in 2013. If I don't use the warranty I get my price refunded, so it was a hedge against a very serious repair. the heated seats, crap like that I'll do myself, but if the tranny goes or a bearing in the engine goes Then i wanted to cover myself against that calamity. I bought the car in 08 with 10K on it. Drove it all year until Dec 09 when I stored it for the winter, and at that time it had 20K on it. so far this year since April I've put about 3200 on it so I expect the time will run out before the mileage does. Which is ok.

Always sound advice, Rudy.

Mine is an '05 that JUST clicked over 34,000 miles (last week). Suppose I could still get a reasonable amount of coverage?

I hear this also, and it may be true, in some cases ...... What I did was, go to a couple of Chrysler dealerships, and questioned them about their service on the Crossfire, and talked to the service manager and asked to actually see the Crossfire Certifications of their then currently working mechanics. The dealer I bought my Warranty from is about 15 miles from where I live and have 3 Crossfire certified mechanics there that have been with them for at least 8 to 10 years. They were sent to the Daimler/Chrysler school to become certified. Two of their service writers, also there for a number of years, have handled Crossfires before and are familiar with them. Just my $.02

EDIT: Just remember the Chrysler Warranty all depends on your mileage and the "in service date"

Looks like I'll be going door to door at all dealerships within 50 miles... smartest one gets the cookie!
