CarChex Warranty
Hey guys,
Just for grins and chuckles I did an online submission to see what a warranty would cost for my new Xfire. I have 3 more weeks to transfer the drivetrain warranty over to me from Chrysler if I want. $150 bucks for coverage until 8/2011.
I spoke with a CarChex CSR and the guy was very informative with NO hi pressure tactics whatsoever. I plan on driving the vehicle no more than 5K a year.
Here's the gist of it:
6 years/75,000 miles bumper to bumper (Exclusionary) coverage. They call it their OEM Plan. That is 75,000 on the car odo so I would have 61,000 miles to burn in the 6 years which I would never do. The CSR even thinks he could do a 3 month & 200 mile pre existing conditions in lieu of the normal 1 month & 1000 mile.
I have read the contract and the only thing I would like to see in the plan that is not there is electrical related issues concerning the air bag and sensors. I need to see if there is an adder for that and how much extra that would cost.
Total Cost $1,700.00 for the six years of coverage. No deductible.
Any of you guys have any experience with this company or similar.

My warranty expired a long time ago. The car is an 2006, with 8,300 miles. I wonder if they would sign mine up. It's never had anything wrong, but a lot of the equip is expensise to repair or replace.

Do you have a link or phone number to them? They don't cover electric ? Do they have no interest pay out, how many months do they give to pay up.

I did a quick internet search on Ripoff Report and found that they are listed under Smart Auto Warranty/Carchex. They seem to have problems with paying. They're sort of like a health insurance company. They figure what the parts should cost and then that's what they pay. You get a decent insight into how they operate from reading the reports if you can put up with the typos and the lack of correct spelling that people who post on there seem to indulge in. I'd see if you can get an extended Chrysler warranty first. I know my car is covered for everything up to 80,000 miles with a $100 ded.

AIG, you say you are covered for everything. Can you confirm the Air Bag electronics for me?
Butch
Have the Chrysler Max Care warranty. I'm covered for everything except wear and tear items. Good for six years and 80,000 miles from inservice date. My car is a 2005 but wasn't sold for the first time until 10/2006 so I'm covered until 2012 but I'll have more than 80,000 miles by then. By the way, my car was part of a rental fleet from Alamo and there was never any problem with warranty coverage at my dealer.
I contacted Chrysler yesterday to check on cost, not bad, they are sending me info. Think I'll probably sign up, like from manufacturer better, I think.

Noted that the last post on this was awhile ago. So - Tired/Retired, what did you decide?
I have a 2008 Ltd Roadster (2nd owner, 7,000mi) which I bought in June. I am now receiving mail from Chrysler re extended warranty. Local dealer says they have their own extended warranty offer - was quoted $1500 in Oct. I don't have to act until Aug of 2011 - but nothing is going to get cheaper - at least it seems so.
And do these outfits want all the $$$ up front, or do they have payment plans with no interest?
Thanks to all for any input!

I am going to go with the Chrysler MaxCare plan which is available through all Chrysler dealers and online. Very honest local dealer advised me to wait until I put my roadster back on the road in the spring as I will save money.
Check around with all your local dealers as they can vary in price. I saw a 800 dollar spread between the highest and lowest quote. The MaxCare plan offered is identical dealer to dealer so it is apples to apples.
They offer 0% financing with some money down but be careful. They will throw in a $150 processing fee which to me is the same as interest but with a different name.
