Default Car Covers???

I'm looking to buy a new cover, but I'd like to get one that won't leave lint all over the roof. Does anyone have any good suggestions?

Yeah, put the roof down.
There are many threads that cover covers, er... are about covers. There are many types of covers, in garage covers, out in the rain covers, do a search and study them. If you can look at some it would help.

Search is well advised. The quick answer (IMHO) is that if this is a cover for a garaged XF, then a cheapie (~$40) from WalMart does the trick -- I've been using them for 6 years and they have no padding so no lint. If the cover is for outside use, you want a fitted cover so it does not flap and allow debris underneath to scratch the vehicle. There are both oem and aftermarket fitted covers available (google is your buddy) but expect to pay $180>.

I will say that I fooled with Cheapie covers in the past. I took out the checkbook and paid the 180. When I got the cover I was greatly impressed with the quality. For indoor covers I recomend the "dustop" cover and have it custom fit with pockets for side mirrors. I live in a dusty area and it is amazing at keeping the dust off. Plus the inside is lined with a very soft fabric and I assume great for the paint. Covers the car perfect and looks great! You can really see the lines of the car even when it is covered. I originally thought 180 was too much for just a cover and all covers are created equal. Once I got the cover I never would have guessed that it would be the best 180 I ever spent.

I originally purchased the Chrysler OEM cover and it lasted about 2+ years...ripped when putting it on one day; I assume from the UV rays over this time period. i purchased a Sunbrella replacement one last year and it is a custom fit, just like the OEM, but the material is much heavier/stronger and I feel that this one is superior to the OEM. It does not have any llining so no fuzz...PJ

I agree. I purchased a cheepie from Wally World for 40 bucks or so that is for garage use. Made of Typar like material that leaves no lint on the roof. Fits the xfire perfectly.

california car cover for a custom fit. as for lint if you have a good quality wax job on the car a california duster will remove 95% of the lint and a quick detailer will finish it

For longer term (over winter) get a medium quality cover and then search for "car pocket", $165 Drive your car in the bag and zip it up. If you position it correctly in the bad, my 2004 Suburban will fit in the bad fully zipped.

I have a Covercraft NOAH and it's fantastic. Fits perfect and heavy duty enough for inside or out and thick enough to protect the car for long term storage. No lint either.
