Worlds most expensive replacement key
I think I may have bought the worlds most expensive Crossfire key.
The car I'm buying only has one key and the dealer is giving me such a deal on the car by bringing it 130 miles to me to test drive, giving me a great price on the car and fixing curb rash on all four wheels to boot. They also did some paintless dent removal at a great price.
I figured I would just let them order me a replacement key thinking it would be $150 to $200 tops...... Then I find out they are hitting me for $500 and the key is already ordered.
Oh well....guess they are getting a little bit of their expenses back in the key sales.
Still a good bunch of guys and Get my A+ on service but $500 for a key ????
Really ??
I hope its the optional gold plated one with diamond studs

There is a member here that works for a dealer that can get one for you for around $120. Different dealers charge different prices but are generally in the $150 - $250 range. I have never heard of anyone paying anything near that price. I would not accept the key at that price. Call a few other dealers and get quotes, and confront them with the quotes. No need in giving those "good bunch of guys" your hard earned money needlessly. If they are really good guys, they will knock about $300 off that quote.
Well, they may be good guys and I am sure they are. However, business is business. I would try to get that key price dropped a bit. Good luck and don't forget to post pics when that baby is yours.
No need to go through dealer. Follow this link ------> https://www.remotesandkeys.com/Produ...ductCode=3191A

without telling me the price. I'm a bit ticked off about it as I think they are padding the key price.
We'll see what happens tomorrow when I pick up the car.

You have paid for dents to be removed and that no doubt included the cost of the wheel repair, now you are paying for a key at an unholy price, no wonder they are giving you the red carpet treatment.
They do not expect to see you again as they are so far away so they are soaking you while they can.
They will probably make you pay $100 for the key to be initialized with the car. You can do that for yourself if you read the simple instructions on how its done. They will not say that you can do it yourself.
I would refuse to pay that for a key as its over twice the going rate and that's a ripoff too.
I had to buy second keys for my SRT6 and my son's 2007 coupe and they were around $140 each at the dealer (they had to order them pre-cut based on VIN from M-B). You need to negotiate it down to $150-200. You might want to check pricing at another Chrysler or M-B dealership and use that to discuss a more realistic price.

They already had the price adjusted when I got there.
Ended up paying $200 for the key, but I tell ya, After seeing what they did
for the 2 dents and how good all 4 wheels looked I have no problem paying that at all !
I'm sure telling them on the phone the info I received here prompted them to give an honest price, thanks guys
I would have never thought they could have made the curb rash disappear like that.
The car is great and the service was also.
A+ transaction.

I sure hope it warms up a bit, the top on the car is only 1 month old and I have a bottle of 303 protectant ready to spray on it
