X Fire Newbie
This is what we lawyers call an "open ended" question so please feel free to share whatever thoughts you have....just purchased a 2005 Xfire Roadster, obscenely low miles. 1st new car in years and 1st 2 seater ever. Any thoughts on what to expect, advice, etc. greatly appreciated. Thanks.
Good luck. I've had a couple of two seater AMX's but just got my 07 roadster a couple of days ago. My experience with shorter wheel based cars is that they offer an exciting ride and a great feeling of acceleration.
You'll love it. Best advice is to browse the roadster and coupe sections of the forum (brush up on "potential" problems and maintenance tips) and then read the detail section for how to bring it back to "like new" condition. When you find yourself waxing the inside of the exhaust outlets, you will have arrived.
Expect to find yourself looking for any reason to get out of the house and drive that Crossfire. Midnight rides "just because" are in your future.Congrats and welcome to the forum.
You will love this car. My 06 Roadster is my first convertible two seater and I kick myself for not having one sooner.
Expect envy and admiration from your friends!
Advice - make sure the trunk is firmly closed,' cause if not you get a drained battery, documented personally and by others on the forum.
Happy driving! Alicia

Welcome aboard and enjoy the ride! If you are indeed a Yankees fan, then don't forget the NY stickers for your car! LOL! It's hard for me not to be a fan since I was born in Manhattan.
Welcome to the flock! You'll get lots of looks and compliments when your out. You're going to be surprised at how many people have no idea what kind of car you have and everyone will tell you it looks brand new
Replacement body parts is an issue but any mechanical problems have most likely been addressed previously here. The forum family takes great care of each other unlike most other forums full of flamers and big egos.
Pooly
BTW What type of law do you practice?

Welcome! I'm new here as well, and have had my 05 Roadster about three weeks. It's been secured waiting for clearer weather (winters are so bad here in Mississippi) and completed paperwork. I find myself standing in the garage looking and smiling.
As has been mentioned, this is a great group. Many do some or much of their own maintenance, and maybe more extensive work. You'll find links to the service manuals, parts manual, and other information. You mentioned AMX's, so I suspect you may turn an occasional wrench.
Be sure to spend some time in the Roadster section.
Expect to pay 3X for normal parts if you aren't careful. AutohausAZ has correct filters and such at a fraction of what Chrysler will charge.
Enjoy!

Agree with everyone else. I bought mine in December (who buys a convertible in the Winter...well....me). I love it. This is also my first "new" car in years and my first 2 seater. I've been a car nut since I was a kid, and this is the first car that I've owned that's both eye catching and really fun to drive.
BigYankFan,
Welcome aboard, the car is a trip and a head turner.
Was wondering if your local to Yankee Stadium, we could possibly hook up after the winter thaw (as my roadster is taking it's winter nap, and stays off of the salty roads)...lol...

1. Yankee fan since 1964. 1st game in 1965 (v. Detroit....The Mick hit a homer). I lived through and remember Horace Clark, Jerry Kenney, and Jake Gibbs.
2. Criminal defense practitioner and public defender based in RI for 30+ years. Still love it.
3. Once weather clears looking for excuses to drive to Xfire meets (assuming there are such things) anywhere in the NE USA. Close to kids in school (LI, PA & NH) a plus.
4. More questons concerning gas, tires, oil, etc. going up in technical section shortly.
Thanks all.
