Is an electronic chip advisable?
i BOUGHT A CROSSFIRE RECENTLY AND ABSOLUTELY LOVE IT. IT IS THE NON-TURBO MOTOR AND WOULD LOVE TO ADD 20 -30 HP TO REAR WHEELS. AM CONSIDERING A CHIP FROM KFORCE. ANYONE HAVE ANY IDEAS ON THE ADVISABILITY OF A CHIP. SEEMS LIKE IT WOULD JUST INTERRUPT THE IAT SENSOR AND TRICK THE MOTOR INTO THINKING IT'S HOTTER THAN IT REALLY IS.
Nothing but junk. Read these.
Found them with Search for chip and HP.

Tom: from one Tom to another, stay away from those chips. They're all snake oil and all that happens is your wallet gets thinner.
If you actually want some more performance out of your car, look into getting a free-er flowing air intake (such as a NeedsWings Cold Air Intake) and/or an ECU tune. (Eurocharged comes highly recommended.)

Thanks. I'll look into the intake. I can see that it's not going to be as easy as building up my AMX. This will be a great learning experience. I guess one option would be to just sell mine and buy an SRT
Believe it or not, you have another option. It's a bit extreme, but a few people have replaced the motor all together! They've put in V-8s. There's one Crossfire with a Hemi 5.7 in it. And two with Mercedes E55 motors. And I think there are three with Mercedes 55 AMG (supercharged) motors in them.
Another option, that might be cheaper, is to buy one of the SRT-6 motors from the V-8 swap guys (Paul and Rudy) and have them put that motor in yours!

Simplist, cheapest way to get 330 HP under the hood is to trade the NA in on an SRT6
Done.
Not one thing about a stock SRT6 to which you can be embarrassed. And the difference, if you trade right, will be less than $3K.
Or better, depending on milage and years.
The SRT6 only came in 2005 so if you have a 2007 or 2008 low milage NA, chances are good you can trade even money.
Better than a chip, faster than an NA can ever be modded.
And you get the big wing with a speedo that says 200MPH!
