WTB: Alabaster/Oyster-Gold roadster w/ Vanilla Interior
Still in the market for the "right" roadster...
White is a clear winner, but old territory for me. OG is a color that, ironically, I despise in every other combination except the vanilla/slate combo.
Alabaster/Vanilla is fairly common, but the OG/Vanilla is proving to be a rare one. I'm looking at an Alabaster/Vanilla roadster tomorrow that is local to me...
Still wouldn't mind at least entertaining the thought of OG/Vanilla.
Photo attached for reference...
If you guys know of any for sale, let me know. Max I'm willing to spend is $15.5K, mileage is flexible as these cars are tanks.
Cheers,

I agree. The gold is normally one I see as an old man color, but in this specific combo, looks great.
Problem is, it's scarce as hen's teeth and the only one (yes, one nationwide) I see for sale is a 2007 6MT with 12,xxx miles... they're asking ~$20K which is just silly money. My budget is mid teens, and I'd prefer it to be low teens (just leaves more room in the budget for modding). Also, not terribly sure I want to go back to a manual.
I posted this pic on my Facebook and got quite the rise out of some folks... Some want to puke, others want to dry-hump it. Fitting, actually, given how polarizing the Crossfire is in the first place.
Looking at an Alabaster/Vanilla roadster this evening. Wish me luck!

So I take it you're on the hunt for Gold Crossfire #3?
The good news for 80% of the folks here is that I likely won't get the gold, but it certainly distracted me for a bit. Problem is, it's too rare to sit around and wait on... heck it might be next year before a clean one pops up w/ auto trans.

Here's a white on white roadster that I found on Autotrader.

Now if they'd consider $15,000 we'd be in business. Seems to be well-maintained.
The one I'm looking at tonight has 77k on the clock but appears to be well maintained... I'm going to offer twelve. If he won't bite on 12, I'm passing it up as there are some 40-50K cars out there for $14,000... From the pics, it appears it needs a good day of cleaning but the condition is good (no scrapes/cuts on the interior and outside appears in good shape).
I came very close to buying an Aero Blue Roadster with Auto, and Vanilla interior, when I was on the hunt.
The Vanilla interior with any number of exterior paint jobs, looks simply stunning in my opinion.
I ended up passing the this Aero cause there were insuffable stains on the steering wheel and dash, and I just didn't want to have to deal with that.
The other downside was I want a manual 6 speed.
I'm a big fan of the white interior, especially a clean one...

Are you up for a road trip to Reno? This Alabaster Limited Roadster has
a decent price:

I think the gold looks much better with the vanilla interior. My problem with alabaster is that it makes the vanilla interior really look vanilla, not white. I drove Ms Gumps alabaster roadster at Woodward one year for her when she had both her cars there to sell one. The vanilla interior was perfectly clean, but didn't look clean with the top down were the two colors collided. Just my opinion.
Here is an alabaster, but slate interior:

John, take you time finding the one you want. I wouldn't get in a hurry until early spring.

If you check out the new Mercedes SLS AMG roadster, there's a "cream" interior offered with the white cars and it's the very same scenario. The bright white paint makes the interior look dingy. Having said that, vanilla is better (read, more forgiving) than pure white because a pure white interior would show EVERY imperfection, blemish, and smudge. It's clearly a matter of perception though, because the same vanilla interior in ANY other color looks much brighter, yet it's the exact same color code. Want another brain buster? Look at the "white" Alabaster color against snow. Suddenly, Alabaster more closely resembles "bone", next to the vivid white snow. I'll see if I can find the pic, it was an eye-opener.
What made me think of the Oyster Gold/Vanilla combo again was the same SLS AMG photo set... there was a gold-ish roadster with that same creamy interior, and I was like "where have I seen that before?"
The photo I posted in the beginning was the one I had remembered.
Oyster Gold is a unique color. People either love it or they wretch, but never neutral which is ironic given its earth-tone hue... You would think it was Lotus' Isotope Green

I went today to look at an Alabaster/Vanilla roadster. It was absolutely appalling, the condition. Every interior panel had mud on it. The engine was so filthy, the warning labels were illegible. While the car was idling, there was a wisp of smoke coming from the R/H valve cover as the oil leak was matured to the point of an abscess. The car rode like a wagon, the engine shook at idle. 77K on the clock, and they had the ***** to ask $13,800 for it. In the condition it was in, $10K would be a bold request.
Perhaps I'm spoiled from my last one, but the used car search is wearing me down. I just want my old one back.
I know you are looking convert.. but your old parts would interchange.. and go vanilla for the price..lol..

As with a new girlfriend I have not bonded with the SRT, it will take time. When I went out with a brunette I wanted a blond, when I was with a blond I wanted a brunette, when she was tall I wanted short. You know those feelings I'm sure. I settled for a tall blond and never regretted it.
I wanted an SRT and I got one, but when I change gears in that MT....
Whatever you end up with, just give it time. Good luck.
