You can buy rear view mirrors with this feature.

My Magellan gps unit works fine - it even tells me if I'm going north or south or ... you get the idea. I guess I don't know what this guy is trying to tell you!

Our Daughter has a white 05 .

I never heard anything about our cars having a "magnetic field" before. But that explains why my 8-track quit working.
Thanks for the props on my hood Dave .

That explains why my car seems faster when I drive near High Voltage Lines. It's the EMF's working.

If you got a Smartphone (iPhone or Droid), you can download the Compass app, and like magic your phone display turns into a Compass.

So the Dealer said the inside of the Xfire is magnetized and a Compass won't work there.

Sounds a little fishy to me...

Yes, mechanical compasses are magnetic. They point to magnetic north. The electronics in the car can throw off a mechanical compass. Today most nearly every compass in a car is electrical. Like te ones in a gps or in a phone. I think the guy was just lazy or more likely afraid of the wiring in the Crossfire.

Thx for the idea. I just downloaded a compass app for my Droid. Works great and will come in handy.

Their may be some truth to our cars acting "weird" due to magnetic fields or whatever, however my Garmin GPS works fine in the Crossfire....that said, I have had a recent issue with a mounted transponder that is used for one of our "electronically tolled" highways here in the Toronto area. The transponder was not working when initially mounted but after fussing with the location on the windshield, I finally got it to work. When phoning customer service, they admitted that some cars have an issue and the Crossfire was on file as one of the cars listed as problematic. I remember the women on the phone saying "Oh yea, you drive one of those small sports cars.....I'm looking at a picture of it right now....nice!".....
