Default Top problem solved

Maybe this will help someone. My top would not go down even after the windows were activated by turning the handle and pushing the top up. Checked everything, trunk down, spoiler down, and the pain in the neck thing in the trunk in place and still nothing but a beep I've come to hate. Even jumped out the famous switch in the trunk. Manually put the top down and it went up when I pushed the top switch on the console but would not go down with the switch again. Have extended coverage so I took it to the dealer thanks to my better half reminding me of it every half hour. They checked it soup to nuts and after 2hrs of waiting the manager said they found nothing wrong. I asked if they checked the small switch over the center of the passenger window as it seemed like it was making and breaking to the touch and it was like a deer in the headlights. The manager came out 10 minutes later and said that was it and he'd have to order it. Problem solved. Hope it helps someone.

Carman

I know you mentioned the switch location but I was wondering if you have a picture of the switch? I didn't notice it on my passenger window side. Thanks

Release the top from the windshield and push it up.

Walk around to the passenger side.

Look between the first and second "hinge" spots in the top, about directly above the door handle, you will see a small switch with a plunger that is extended (because when you push the top away from the windsheild frame, the switch is "relaxed"). This switch is wired in series with the one in the trunk (the "divider" switch), they both must close in order to allow the pump to run.

There is also a thread here where James11549 provides a picture of the switch, but if you look, you can see it ONLY WHEN THE TOP IS RELEASED FROM THE FRAME!

Does anyone know the part number? It may be smart to keep a spare.

I am not sure which switch it is from the picture( maybe lildaddym can check and chime in) but here is a link to an ebay guy that has 2 different roof switches and the trunk divider switch available - I just ordered one of each for myself as I figured it would be cheaper than having a Chrysler tech look at it for a couple hours if I had a problem. I have bought parts from him a couple times - I am collecting a stockpile while I can get them cheap!

He also has a couple of Karmann Ghia T-shirts - I bought the one that has a large "Karmann Classic" on the front in the same script as Karmann Ghia (it has a small Karmann Ghia logo /sillouette on the sleeve) I liked the quality so I just ordered another one for me and one for the wife!

Good prices, genuine parts and a very good guy to deal with. I have no affiliation with him but happy to pass on the info.as he still has a few of each in stock and he ships to Canada!

Not sure which switch that is, because the photo is too blurry to me, but I do believe the description is wrong...it may truly be the top center switch...the one over the window on the passenger side is a sliding one...

I just had the top replaced on my sons 2006 Crossfire due to the back window issues, my MIL picked it up from the shop and she brought it home to us and now the Top will not go down. Never had an issue before! Checked the rear divider, deck lid etc. Still won't go down. Could this switch been removed during the top being replaced? I did not see anything that looked like a switch in the location mentioned.
