starting to have some top problems
I'll call the dealer when I get a chance but has anyone else had a problem pulling the top down and latching it after the power mechanism has finished closing cycle? At least 50% of the time I cannot pull it down to latch. I don't want to force it so I run it through another top down then back up cycle. sometimes this does it and sometimes not. Anyone have similar problems?
Bill. Are you turning the release handle as you are pulling the top down to close? The first week or so after I had my car I was not turning the handle and found it more difficult to close and when it finally did it would slam down with a hard metallic thud. If you are turning the handle then you probably have another problem. Let us know if there is some other problem.

I do like the suggestion of leaving it down and buying a spare coupe for those rainy days, and at the discounted prices I'm seeing, it just might fly with the wife.
I had problems the first time but none since. Or course I've only had the car 4 days. The one thing that worries me is the big CLUNK it makes when it first starts going down. Does everyones CLUNK?

Having said this, I love my roadster!!!
:? My XFIRE from the day I purchased it, the top was hard to get down and the loud noise when you first put it down is the locks un locking. Yes I have found by pushing up on the channel on the left it closes very easily. I have lubed all the moving parts on the channels but to no avail. I am still afraid to bring it back to the dealer because I don't think that they have any knowledge of the cars at all and might mess it up more. The dealers know nothing about this tpye of top, especially the ones on LONG ISLAND. At present they have only sold 4 roadsters.
The first few times I put the top up, I too had the loud metal-on-metal THUD/CLANK. Shortly thereafter instead of just pulling the latch down sharply, I guide it down slowly with my hand and voila, a soft (but firm) landing every time. Even though the hard close seems like the right thing to do, I suspect its not.
