engine oil light keeps coming on
engine oil light keeps coming on
Red engine oil light keeps coming on. I had my oil changed, the receipt says 9 quarts then drove 1800 miles no problem. Then the engine oil light came on, slow down the light goes off, speed up it goes back on. Checked the oil and it looked ok. Dash says oil is ok. Drove 1500 miles and now the oil is brown? Help!
Re: engine oil light keeps coming on
Was the oil level near full on the dip stick. From the manual:
if the low engine oil
level warning lamp comes on, a malfunction in the
engine oil level system is indicated. A conveniently
located dipstick allows manual checking of the oil level.
If no leaks are noted, continue to drive to the nearest
service station where the engine oil should be topped to
the “full” mark on the dipstick with an approved oil.

Re: engine oil light keeps coming on
took it in and had the extra oil removed. Was way over the max mark. Engine light is still on. They will replace the oil sensor. I keep you up to it. I told them to do an engine analysis to see if there is any other damage to it. Any other suggestions?
Re: engine oil light keeps coming on
Had the oil sensor in the oil pan replaced on my car too. Was done at the dealer under the extended warranty. Went out the next morning there were about two quarts on the ground. Back to the dealer, tech cracked the oil pan when he replaced it so I got a new pan too. Just saying, watch out for that happening. May have just been mine but you never know.
